- fortress health screen
- no ability to take all trade items back from trade depot

Came here specifically for these two. Most of the 0.49 "z" menu is there, and I can certainly understand not having a Fortress level health monitoring screen unless you have a Chief Medical Dwarf, but once you have a CMD you should be able to see the general (and specific diagnosed) health of everybody, including hungry/starving, thirsty/dehydrated, or any level of pain, without needing to hunt each and every dwarf throughout the entire fortress.

Having to wait for the merchants to leave to retrieve items out the Depot is problematic as well, in case someone/thing hostile and big shows up and I have to seal my fortress in that time period between initiating a trade and their deciding to leave, any food in there may very well rot before they get to go. As a corollary, while there may not be wagons on the first couple years, it would be nice to be able to make sure that my depot is actually accessible to the things, and not blocked by some bleeping tree that decided to grow in the last five or six years.

Good find bumber, at least one person has tried. Unfortunately they either removed it already, or they posted it to a site that expires the audio after a while.

DF General Discussion / Re: DF Song Converted to IRL Song!
« on: November 03, 2016, 03:35:34 am »
"Sorry, the requested media could not be found. It may have expired or been deleted."

Could you please post the audio somewhere it won't expire?
For posterity's sake.
Also, I want to hear it.

Motion Seconded! Perhaps to the YouTubes?

Oh, I'm personally no musician, but I know there are LOTS of really good musician who also DF, so I hope at least a few do go through and "translate" the options into a musical performance. Honestly, I'd love to see a full orchestral performance of one of the generated songs, like you occasionally see from the Final Fantasy games.

Question is on the *tin plated book*, as it were. Has there been anybody who looked at the description of a game generated song and gone, "I can totally play that on my whatever instrument," then posted the result somewhere? I've found the main theme done by many people, songs FOR DF, songs ABOUT DF, but my google-fu is probably weak, because I have yet to find songs BY DF.

Necro-bump? Sorry, but this is actually exactly the same as my question, but better formatted. Using LNP 40_24 r13 and I can't seem to get the "Process to bags" aspect to work with workflow to net me quarry bush leaves and rock nuts. Any specific settings I can plug in to get it going?

It may be drab, but my personal favorite stone is Basalt. Obsidian is probably better overall, but I like the dark grey color or Basalt just a touch more. I'm a sucker for the igneous rocks.

Misty should ask the elf (girl? boy? It's so hard to tell) what their favorite mineral is, and their favorite cheese. Romance has no place in an ambitious, forward moving, Gods blessed (maybe?) cheeser, at least not until a luxury bedroom has been dedicated for her and her future paramour. Besides, we have centuries for that.

My military strategy is probably not the best, but I tend (in non-dead raising biomes) to embark with a single hunter, set them immediately to hunting, and just let them archer up. I then tend to recycle anydwarf that has the "Hunting" Group of skills into my hunters exlusively. Eventually, either at my first big ambush or Armok forbid, seige, I then convert the males into Warriors with uniforms. If I've gotten any kind of luck, they've already gotten lots of training as archerdwarves, and I have loads of leather around to make basic armor, but more often than not, seal the gate and make pot-shots from the entry castle and pray.

Once the threat is gone, the dwarves stay in the squad and get set to no jobs, praying that they will go use the provided Archery butts, and not be bugged again. Assuming everything works, any male with hunting skill ends up in my first squad, and usually by the end of the 3rd year I have a full squad of crossbowdwarves. Melee military, I haven't really ever needed, the drop-hall of winding with the staggered fortified access over the flooded pit of doom with drains usually keeps anything out long enough to put a thousand bolts through it before it gets to my side door. Though, I do actually tend to build a danger room and stick a third of my troops into it on schedule. Gotta raise armor and dodge somehow!

Granted. Now all you need do is think about it and you have infinate souls. Sadly, this is also the only mechanic in the game, and you have no reason to play ever.

I wish that I had remembered to actually ask my inlaws if I could borrow their circular saw for the project I need to make.

I wish the games I'm in would update.

Granted. The updates are scheduled, posted and completely bugged out.

I wish I had a plan for American Independance day.

Biggest thing I worry about with digging sieges is the off chance that the siege in question actually starts in the caverns (definitely an apparent possibility) then digs up into your fortress, and the player has NO idea that it's even coming until it's inside and killed your dwarves. Or an ambush starts out on the surface, decides it's better to dig to your doom, and again, without warning gobs are in the dining room.

But with all the new plants, I'm looking forward to seeing how the new farming is going to work. I'm also interesting in the new movement options, and the fact that history still advances after game start is going to be interesting too. Hopefully it won't kill FPS too badly on my POS machine.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Best vanilla tileset video let's play?
« on: April 06, 2014, 01:16:05 am »
I'm going to be a snot, and self promote.

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLemCWwgJzw2fZynrj-Ew50LvboF1Nqw0z

It's a tutorial for now, but I'm turning it into a LP in the next few videos. I started with only SoundSense and DwarfTherapist, though I did end up using Pandaxis LNP for the dfHack basic fixes. Vanilla tileset though. I can't STAND the other tilesets personally. The all end up glitching after a few hours.
