DF Community Games & Stories / Re: -Tales of the first and second world-
« on: January 10, 2022, 02:22:58 am »
Thank you Salmeuk. I remember the werelizard fortress fondly, it was my only attempt to settle on a sea beach.

I tried to keep a written style, but have different moods depending on the character of the dwarf writing.

I originally planned to make more drawings to go with the text, but finally, I was postponing too much, and decided to submit it anyways.

I think I'll have a bit more drawings next time.

HELLO  :)

Strike the earth, fellow dwarfs. My name is Filip.

I want to share some stories of adventure and danger with you.

This weekend I finally decided to format and organize my dwarf fortress journal stories from the last few years. I made this, mostly, to share with you, here. I like to write journals of my fortresses, which started off as a simple to-do list for the year in my fortresses, but grew into a kind of role-play, where I report on the fortress while assuming the role of one of the inhabitants.

My original journals have some orthographic mistakes and bad formatting, as I usually write them in a hurry. I cleaned them up for easy reading.
They are in PDF format, you can download them or share them as you see fit, but mostly, I would be happy if you read and have some fun.

Parchment paper style can be found here, but...

...if you prefer a simple black and white format, here:

Cheers!

Thank you!

I've been looking for a good 15x15 (fits my screen perfectly) that looks close to the vanilla, but is crispier.

Very nice tileset!

Hi,

I did an Inktober this year, I thought you might like it.

Doesn't have dorfs, but I hope it's cool anyways.

I cornered and Elk between a few trees, it decided to fight back. Stabbed me with its hoof in the body, rendering me unconscious, then it killed me while I was out. I never though and Elk would get me. I hope my dog avenged me.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Overwhelmed, how do you guys do it?

Don't menage every dwarf, assign a menager and use him to order all your needs. Let them drink in the tavern, it's a city, not a labor camp :D I play with a 150+ on vanilla, I usually pay attention to 10-15 dorfs, the army and the elite craftsmen. the rest drink and farm. drink and farm! And build piraminds!!!

DF Suggestions / Dance Macabre
« on: October 26, 2017, 04:57:23 am »
Dance Macabre (Dance of the dead)

When in fortress mode, If I don't have enough soldiers to defend against an undead invasion, I close off and wait. It's kind of boring, but it's better then to get everybody killed. The undead usually just wander around and look for something to kill, but it's really aimless and I'm sure nothing bad will happen.

I would like a game mechanic where if there are enough of them, they will start to dance in a circle, near the center of the map. This could be simply for fun or for invoking ghosts that terrorize your fortress and disrupt it. These ghosts could even possess your dwarfs and make them do stupid things, pull levers or go barserk and hoard food.... you get it.

I find the dead in this game a bit mindless, and feel a bit of spark for dance and music would lively things up a bit for them.

Thx for reading.

Life Advice / Re: The relationship help/advice thread
« on: July 22, 2016, 01:25:33 pm »
Hi, so I'm gonna write this about the question about the long distance relationship.

My story so far, I'm married and very happy since 2 years with a girl I met and had a long distance relationship for 4 years after we lived in the same place for 1 year.

I won't go into too much detail, but the general rules are these :

- Set the ground rules and talk about it, if it isn't working change them. Like, is it ok to see other people or not, how much call time your can both offer during a week and so on.
- Use things like Skype, or something even more personal like Between - Private Couples App, just keep those video calls between the two of you yours, keep them intimate. Make a distinction between when calling together with friends like during a party or smt, and the ones only between the two of you.
- Plan when you're going to see each other and try to stick the dates, the longer the time between waits the better it is when you see each other, but it hurts more when you cancel.
- (very important) Have a long-term plan to move somewhere and live together, a long distance relationship is painful and will slowly fail.

Hope that helps, cheers!  :P

Creative Projects / Re: Dwarf Drawings - Initial feedback

Thanks to you all, you made my day.  :) To HugoLuman: I'm just using the inbuilt camera of my Sony Xperia St21i, I think the directed soft light from my desktop lamp does the magic.

Creative Projects / Dwarf Drawings - Initial feedback
« on: November 25, 2014, 12:27:22 pm »
Hey guys, this is my first post on any dwarf fortress forum ever, I am thinking of doing a bigger project with dwarf fortress, but I need some feedback on these three drawings I did in slightly different styles. I am going to do some watercolors soon as well.

Dwarf and beast.
