Life Advice / Re: Internet Connection basically dying around nighttime
« on: November 21, 2014, 06:17:04 pm »
Had something similar several years ago. In my case it was the coaxial cable connected to the modem. During midnight the room the modem was in would cool and the coaxial cable was screwed in incorrectly and was barely connecting.. So the cooling of the room caused enough shrink of the metal connection to ruin the internet connection.
In my case the box where the connection enters the house and the coaxial cable was replaced.
Perhaps something similar is the case and in the best case scenario you just need to unscrew and rescrew the cable and make sure the connection is secure.

If that's not the case, it might help if you also mention where the connection fails: modem, router, switch etc.
You can look at the blinking lights or test it with your laptop by connecting to each individual item.

le bump.  ;D

So, at first my ears nearly bled from the previous submission. Mostly because I was wearing headphones. Then I turned the volume down and I could appreciate the rythm with less physical pain.(the youtube comment "sick... needs more bass in my opinion" made me go WHAAAT?! My ears are bleeding man!). There was a sudden screech that hurt anyways.  I can understand why one would like this kind of music. It is probably the more social kind of person who can actually DANCE or at least just nod mildly to the beat while standing cool and aloofly to the side and all that hip jazz.. That's totally not me though. My last attempt to dance was just awkward. It actually does have something to it though, so it passes.
6/10

And now a song from an artist from a genre that usually doesn't interest me, at least, modern rap and hip hop never quite got my love. This song however, is very catchy!

Snoop Dogg - My Medicine

Also, a bonus song. Sing along!

I actually liked Electric Feel better. But this is good too. I like metal. I heard good and really bad metal. I also like synthesiser and electronic sounds. I heard good and really bad electric music too.
This however is really nice.
8/10
(Electric Feel gets a 9/10 though)

And now ladies and gents: Cannibal Corpse... Lounge Music!

Oh heh, I feel spectaculary stupid. That turned out like calling "Hay, how about building a car, with WHEELS!" to a crowd of accomplished car engineers.

Well, I'm still mustering concentration to try it out anyway... with u-bends and waterwheels!

Purely theory for now:

Has anyone tried to make a perpetuum mobile? I dont think friction would be a problem. A set amount of water should be able to power a watermill to pump itself up again and go on forever.

I also mused to combine this with the U-bend bug to make an endless amount of water (so use and evaporation would not be an issue), but two problems stopped me: My lack of patience and concentration, and never having observed this u-bend bug before (but I think I understand it).

It would be a great convoluted solution for maps with no running water.

Actually.. I'm going to try now! Anyone else up for the challenge?

Ahaha, I have an album of Heidevolk. But it gets a bit boring after a while. Maybe I've got the wrong album and perhaps the others are better. I had great fun seeing them live years ago though and I like my heidevolk top I purchased that day with the two drinking horns and wriggly writing. Got to love wriggly writing..
This is a cover of Normaal by the way. But as they say... uh.. Better well stolen than poorly invented..? Something like that.
So 8/10

And now, a song for the kobolds. With top hats..
Madness - Shut Up

How obvious is it I am bumping this thread? =) I like this thread...

Eh, it looks better when it isn't glowing purple (it greatly boosted accuracy).
*snort snicker* I'm so immature. That made me laugh harder :D

So, to stay on topic: MMORPGs. I once played this female elf thing, and this this other female elf thing comes up to me and says "Hey, ur pretty :)" and I said "Dude? those are pixels composed of carefully selected features man!" and it went on like "Pretty pixels then lol" coo coo. I grew a bit annoyed and realised it couldn't be serious. I'm so slow at times. It ended up with it saying "bla bla bla.. I'm a bi-sexual girl"
Well isn't that mighty convenient, mister bi-sexual girl!  /ignore

edit: I liked the male elf things better anyways. Those barbarella and blowdryer metal hair rock.

So that's my story and I'm glad I could vent it. Continue.

It makes elves even creepier if you think of them arriving at a depot, brushing the snow off, and "would you like to buy a Rhesus Macaque? Oh look he's sleeping".

They've been watching too much Monty Python. Silly elves

You know what I am looking forward too? Looking forward to like a giddy schoolgirl a week before the prom? Playing different races (already possible, I know) plus Overland conquest plus dwarf eating Elves plus baby breeding set to 1000:1000..

Be fruitful and multiply my Elves! and EAT ALL THE DWARVES!
Ahaha! Ahahaha! Ahahahahahaaaaa! *<- manical laughter*
Oh, sweet, delicious Revenge!

That and making skull thrones.

"Lovely! Is that throne dwarven made?" "Yep. Some of them still have their beards, see?"

Yea uh, as a meek attempt to get back topic: Eating your enemies beats enslaving them. Slaves feed on FPS, Elves feed on slaves. Top of the foodchain baby :)

I was messing with some ridiculous monster name generator and it came up with "Wingcat Ray".

I'm thinking it's a sea ray (you know, as in manta), relatively large, that can fly through (and breathe) the air and acts like a cat.

So an intelligent flying killer manta.. which which breeds like mad, 'adopts' dwarves and kills FPS.. among other things? ;D
Nice.

Life Advice / Re: Need some help from a music expert...

When I say doom metal is like poo crawling up a hill, I'm joking, I obviously haven't heard much of it to know, and I'm cool with anyone who does listen and appreciate it.
I love Tank! and Rush (from cowboy bebop) but dont even want strap you on a chair and force you to listen to it untill you die.. er.. like it. It's not even the issue here!
Anyone saying he/she prefers some other band or other genre, probally doesn't mean it any worse than a suggestion to listen to it once a while too.

Noone is fighting eachother in music taste right now, right? We're all trying to figure out what fits where. Nevermind not all artists might be pleased to be stuffed in a box, but though luck on them. Let's continue to figure out what fits where :)

But I don't mind you being all 'meh' either. It's cool.

Anyways! My suggestion is to start with the roots of the genre's you want to know about. Open a book or wikipedia, and start listening, and notice how the music has evolved. Again, this could very well be a crap suggestion. ;D
But alot of bands are suggested right now. It's a great opportunity!

Like already said before: Wikipedia describes it quite well, including most known bands for every genre: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music
Not on your list but hilarious: Doom metal. Not to listen to, but live. "Now, it's time for a fast song."
Priceless. Should call it Snail Metal or something though. Or snooze metal.. or I-only-had-1-minute-of-material-and-smeared-it-over-a-whole-concert-metal.

Speedmetal: Can't be accused for being slow. Running Wild describe themselves as speedmetal. (they sing about pirates! how neat is that!) Not sure if Peter Pan Speedrock falls into that category. it has 'speedrock' in the name, close enough. Can't name other speedmetal bands at the top of my head.

Rock 'n roll's definition has been evolved quite alot overtime. See wiki. Even the Osmond siblings used the words rock 'n roll!

Headbanger. Someone who headbangs, headbanging is the fine art of tossing your head with long manes around. either up and down (I once joked 'metalheads aren't rebel at all, they always nod yes' and noone laughed.. I think it's funny!), or completely around. you can shake your head. Or if you're weird like me, make triangles. See wiki on Headbanging. Don't take everything serious though. Not every metalhead wears shitty green jackets, though a huge patch of your favourite band on the back is quite common. It's fun to examine all the patches of an avid metalhead's jacket and see how many bands you know. Best place: metal festivals. You can even hear some nice stories of the older guys.

Punk. No idea, actually, it only just reminds me of Vyvyan of The Young Ones and Sexpistols (God save the Queeeeeen!). that's all I know. Also, that Gothic is originally branched off from punk and is very electronic, lessay Sisters of Mercy. I'll pass this question.

I am guessing alternative music is also nicely described in the wiki. Everything small, independant and undergroundy. Though when I was 15-18 though, it would probally be a pleonasm because punk=alternative. rock/metal=alternative. and scary.. Then again, everyone with a bit too many black accessoiries was swiftly called an 'alto' (a Dutch term) at my school.

If you plan on writing a paper for school, I suggest looking in your local library for books about music. I'd be viciously murdered if I tried to write a paper using only wikipedia for example..

Oh wow, I'm glad you like it! :D Well, I don't think I can animate it myself, my trauma with flash/animation was brief, frustrating and still runs deep.
*twitch twitch... sob... *
Eh, I guess i can try again, who knows it'll be less of a violent tragedy this time =)

I planned on making it continuous, a neverending dwarf-munch rampage, but not sure if that's a significant improvement.
I'll stuff some more frames in it this weekend ^^ maybe add in some bones and chunks (the little 2 thingies). What's tweening?
