Hats off to you.  Thank you for this!

If the launcher could trigger downloads of supported utilities that would be awesome.

+1 to this idea.

Personally if it was not for MacNewbie pack and DT I am not sure I would have lasted too long with DF.  I had spent a lot of time reading and researching on how setting up DF, but those made it tremendously easy as a newb to mange the simplest of things, such as settings and selecting graphics.  Even the file structure makes it easier.  A simple one stop shop launcher makes all the world of difference getting into this.

DFHack is nice as well, but for me a nice to have.

I'm having some serious trouble with poor performance out of Dwarf Therapist. It starts with a surprising quarter-second or so delay in toggling jobs when you only have your seven dwarves all the way up to a second or more when you have 50+. I'm playing on OSX 10.11, is that known to be a problem? Does this happen on other platforms?

I've pulled down the github repo for DT to take a look at things. It's surprising to me that something relatively simple like toggling a few bits (not even committing the changes to DF) lags based on how many dwarves you have, so I'm planning on digging around a bit in the code to see what might be happening (C++ is not my native tongue, though). For all I know, it's a QT problem, not DT.

I too have serious 'lag/performance' issues on the OSX with DT.  Definitely gets worse the more dwarfs I accumulate, taking 10-30secs to make a change.

I am completely new to playing DF, so my original install was the download directly from bay12.  Don't think DFHack is part of that(?).  Since then I also tried using MacNewbie, which I know does have a version of dfhack.

The ones I tried recently were WIP, Ironhand, Phoebus, & Spacefox.  Although what you said does seem to be playing a factor....tried Deuer just now and seem to be having much less issues.

Sounds like I should maybe downgrade to a lower version of df, or just continue to play with it as is and live with the artifacts.

You could find one you like and even take it a step further and tailor it to your aesthetics.

This is something that interests me very much and have just started looking into how to do this.

Tilesets and Graphics / Tile-set Graphic Issues w/Text
« on: January 03, 2016, 06:47:06 pm »
Hi all.

I am having a bit of an issue with tilesets and text.  Whichever tileset I seem to install, I am getting issues with some (or all in the case of WIP) of the characters.  Most notably the punctuation....such as , or '.

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to see if there was something on the forums and Google, but haven't really found anything.  I have tried a number of different graphic settings and just cannot figure it out.  Anyone know what I am doing wrong?  Have tried this with manual installs on 42.04, as well as with using MacNewbie (42.03 I believe).  All tilesets have similar issues.

I am on a Macbook Pro w/Retina
