DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: February 16, 2019, 03:28:27 pm »
I just had a 10 year old cyclops child invade, panic at first sight of my military and run away straight into a cage trap.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Archery Questions?
« on: February 16, 2019, 08:34:44 am »
You are overthinking this entirely too much. A 10 strong group of very well trained and armoured dwarves will be able to take on just about any threat in this game short of hell and your archers are just the fallback for dust spewing forgotten beasts.

Anyway dwarves make very unreliable archers and it is best to just give them proper weapons instead of them trying to use their crossbows as a mace.

The only real trick with archers is getting them the first 3 or so  levels of marksmanship so that they start reliably using the ranges. Personally I just run green recruits around the map shooting at random wildlife for a bit.

DF Modding / Re: Tips for encouraging Kobold Populations?
« on: February 10, 2019, 01:24:20 pm »
If you open up entity default and change the kobolds "[DEFAULT_SITE_" to a dark fortress and the same with "[LIKES_SITE:" underneath(just copy the golbins) they will tend to stick around for ages ands sometimes do fairly well for kobolds.

Hey there! Any news on a launch pack for lazy people that can't figure out how to get soundsense, therapist, dfhack and phoebus working without succumbing to the ever encroaching madness DF brings naturally?

I'd love to give this mod a good whirl. Very keen on having more enemies to contend with (just like with masterwork, though it's tilesets are sadly wrong atm).

Anyway, not trying to put pressure on. Just inquiring if there's anything in the works on that front? Some way to bundle it with Peridexxiserrant's LNP or some such?

Cheers!
"You can copy and paste over the Dwarf Fortress game folder in the Start Pack with DA:III DF game folder for a quick and ugly way. Changing packs after doing so: will break the mod, so pick the pack you want first.".

If you download the 44.07 Df version, then paste it over the df folder, download df hack alpha and TWBT and do the same, following their install instructions, you can get a so far perfectly stable LNP 44.07 version.

Never forget, you can always Frankenstein the modpack and try to splice in updates if you want to take them for a whirl.

I can probably figure out the df hack and twbt part but what do I need to add to the 44.05 LNP to update the base game to 44.07?

It worked a charm. Thnx mate.

9
aquebus cartridges are not working as in they take the gunpowder and bullets but produce nothing.

10
Is there a 44.05 LNP version of this mod yet?

NVM just threw the raws into the alpha LNP and it is working fine.

Doesn't the starving dead script in DF hack prevent that?

Are contiminant spreading by  a secondary means still such an issue? Just after trying to first vampify my fortress through vampire blood in the well and then trying to coat my arows in venom it seems that they no longer spread and work like they used to.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Necromantic Fortress - Downside?
« on: January 18, 2018, 04:24:59 pm »
Can necromancers get intoxicated? They're kind of halfway between life and death.

Yes, they can also die from Innkeeper induced alcohol poisoning.

I did some testing fairly recently on a necro fort and their alcoholism does not seem to be the cause of the slowdown. Just I used the visitor system to get humans in my fort and when they suffered the exact same slowdown even without needing alcohol. Also simply giving them(my dwarfs) a break with no jobs had the exact same effect as giving them a drink in that it increased their workspeed for a few days also.

Edit: Put it in the library, then you know where the said library is. You can collect the slab as an adventurer.
Science: Make a fuckton of copies of the slab. See whether the copy works in adventure mode.

Just tested this and it seems that the game crashes everytime it tries to write a book with this secret in it.

Ran into a minor bug where "exportlegends info" fails on a young world under 80 years old.
