Utilities and 3rd Party Applications / Re: DFHack 0.43.05-r1

I see. Excellent. Cheers.
I did see those examples in the raws... I will give it a go...

Edit: I copied the 3 example raw files as is into the DF raws folder, and updated the entity_default.txt file with the relevant lines; and now I see the steam engine in the workshop list, and piston in the forge list. So it appears to be working although I have not actually build a steam engine yet...

I have just been browsing the dfhack docs, and the steam-engine plugin has caught my eye (and imagination). But I am not sure if it is still current... at least, it doesn't appear to be running automatically, nor when I try 'enable steam-engine'. it says:
steam-engine is not a recognized command.
steam-engine is a plugin but does not implement any commands

I googled around a bit but couldn't really find anything on it at all.

I am currently running the latest LNP with DF 43.05 & DFHack 43.05-beta on windows (and also on Linux but I haven't tried steam-engine on linux yet).

Any ideas how I should go about getting a steam engine running?

I can't get this to work...
First I exported the xml manually from Legends Mode, then I tried using the DFHack method. I can select the xml file within the file system from the browser but then it just says "Loading World,  loading legends.xml..." and does nothing else.
The xml file is just over 600MB; how long should it take? I have never left it for longer than 20 minutes loading, should I do that?
Or is there an error log I should be checking? Cheers!

Edit: I just spotted the OutOfMemory Error! Thats what it is...

Edit: Still getting the error after creating the .ini file. And doubling the memory allotment. Where does that .ini file need to go?

Right that makes sense. And the pattern-welded and crucible steels are better qualities I assume.

I think this is a great addition to the game, I was always disappointed how easy it was (without this mod) to make steel arms and armour, and that there was no further choices. This is far better. Thanks!

Hello, I am really enjoying this mod but I am only just getting to grips with it. Great work!
To that end, can anyway give me (or direct me to if I have missed it) even just a basic run-down of the metallurgy work-flows; like how and where do I produce steel, how do you use billets (vs bars) and the like? I am sure I'll figure it out in time, and I am attempting to decipher the raw files but there's still lots I am scratching my head over (which is great by the way, I love this kind of thing).
