Haha those strips are awesome! Those grappling rules make me die inside. Thank god we've never used them.

As mentioned, it will not be a GURPS ruleset. I dont ,like how GURPS plays at all.

ALso the toughness is a mistype, i was thinking of a different calculation when i wrote that and it slipped my mind. ill go back and change it. It is not just used for bp, but as one poster said for toughness checks for unconciousness, pain etc.

About encumbrance its going to be handlen get aroud very abstractly with more of a space system than calculating weight. While i havnt worked out the full mechanic, ive thinking of a way i cand hat. I know its a problem - it was terrible in traveller, didnt bother with it either.

Depending on the perosanlity score of the character, it will influence the dies final result. For example, lets say you have a character that has the top level of will, and always gives into uncontrollable urges. The gamesmaster can choose when  the stat would need to be used, and then would either say it would be a positive or negative characteristic. Lets say, in this case, the character was trying to intimidate another character. A more forward willful personality would be useful, so this is used as a positive modifier, opposed to the character trying to resist.
However, if the character was trying to resist frenzy, that predisposition would obviously be a significant negative modifier. In this way, it allows us to separate the individual player characters easier rather than jsut simple social, intelligence, or will statistics, things that cant be as easily as explained by one stat like physical characteristics. The system keeps it simple but gives the characters more of a feel.

Sorry if there are any mistakes. THis was typed early in the morning and my colour scheme makes the words invisible.

Hopefully thats been of some use.

Ill continue working on adventurer after the current semester finishes in about 2 weeks. Lots of revision to do!

To the guy who slayed it.. if you had stats that were that high its probably no wonder you beat it. If you actually didnt use companion and played so much adventure mode to get so ridiculously strong, its a deserved win.

You can find the gamelog in your main df folder, i think. Its called gamelog.txt.

Hopefully a few legendaries and accomdating terrain can do the trick!

Alright guys, back with an  update on the next part of the character summary. I need your help with something after the text dump.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Personal Equipment

Weapons: A summary of all weapons that a character owns.

Armour and Clothing: A summary of all pieces of armour and clothing that a character owns.

Ammunition: A summary of all the thrown or fired ammunition a character can possess.

Money and Valuables: A summary of all items of direct monetary worth, such as coins, gems etc.

Miscellaneous:  A summary of all the other bits of equipment an adventurer will possess, such as camp equipment, lockpicks, gathered herbs, food, waterskins etc.

Transport and Animals: A summary of all the animals the character owns, including mounts and trained pets.

Equipped/In use: What the character currently has on their person, and not just in store somewhere. Mounts and other items in use are listed here, but wont add to personal encumbrance.

Encumbrance: How much a character can carry before becoming encumbered. This maximum is worked out the same as a characters bloodpoints. Excess weight will directly affect the characters agility attribute.

Allies, Contacts, Enemies and Groups:

Groups: The individual groups an adventurer is affiliated with. The first and most important will be the group of adventurers in your campaign! They will all share a common group, that the players can name themselves.

Allies: Allies of the adventurer. These can be characters met in game, or allies created in character generation from social standing. Allies here may be individual allies or allies of the adventuring group; which should be noted down. Allies can be called on in times of need, and will always assist the adventurer/adventuring group if called upon for help.

Contacts: Useful contacts the adventurer has encountered. These can be characters met in game, or contacts created in character generation from social standing. Contacts here may be individual contacts or contacts of the adventuring group; which should be noted down. Contacts can be called on in times of need, and will usually assist the adventurer/adventuring group… for a price.

Enemies: Enemies the adventurer has made. These can be characters met in game, or enemies created in character generation from social standing. Enemies here may be individual allies or allies of the adventuring group; which should be noted down. Enemies will attempt to thwart the individual adventurer/adventuring group who wronged them whenever a suitable opportunity arises.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now im just working on the religious part and that should cover most bases. A miscellaneous section will be there for the players to note down anything else thats missed, but if theres anything glaring so far thats off do tell.

Right, what i need help with is a list of extracts from the various creatures. Alot of them will be useful for something or another, also if you could think of uses for the various plants that would be cool.

Basically muse on the herbology, while i busy myself with finishing character gen and game mechanics. Any help would be appreciated.

DF General Discussion / Re: I yearn for a combat log. Where?

You can use dwarf companion to activate combat logs for fortress mode. Its buggy, and difficult to use, bt its all we have for the current version.

Grab its head with a free hand then go to gouge. You must have nothing in that hand to grab it though. Make sure to pick up your equipment before you fast travel!

For further help, look at the dwarf fortress wiki. Dont have the link handy but google will provide!

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: How to find a bronze collossus?
« on: December 31, 2009, 10:53:14 am »
Its a cool mechanic, its more the fact that the defualt colossi are weak. When they can take more damage, its one of the few weaknesses that balances them versus other creatures.

The adventurers were pushed back towards the edge, so the bronze colossus was forcing THEM off the edge. And its hard to push a huge mountain of metal backwards!

Also, that colossus picture was ace, forgot about that game!

You are missing all the default dwarf fortress body files - my mod does not come with the already installed default DF raws, the only default raws it comes with is the ones ive modified to make creatures different and the matgloss plant file.

Therefore, deleting everything in the objects folder will screw you up, as it will get rid of some of the vanilla files that AOH needs to work.

The errorlog says to me that you are missing the body file of the original dwarves, so you should do a fresh install and verify that body_default.txt is in your objects folder before world generation.
