DF General Discussion / Re: Future of the Fortress

Guys does toady plan to make building like rimworld where you can just for example order a bed to be created without using workshops.
The manager lets you do that already. Just order a bunch of beds.
Dwarves themselves will still use a workshop though. Rimworld folk just build stuff whevever they like? Hmm.

Changes mentioned by Toady regarding workshops involve changing them to zones, somewhat like the Locations now. So presumably you'll be able to add tools, extra people, I guess that might lead to apprentice systems and such. That'll break all sorts of things though so won't happen until the Big Wait (when breaking stuff is allowed, apparently).

Use Lime green text if you want to ask a direct question to Toady.
Thank you

That would be based on bodies working like our world humans do. If, you say, have a human race with different limb proportions than us, the styles may well differ. Also - note that martial arts on Earth is designed to work against humans - using judo against a full size dragon or titan would be rather counter productive... Heck, trying to go under a goblins center of mass to throw him wouldn't be easy for most humans... And most fighting here are against things that are of different species...
Can't toady let us lift a dragon if our strength stat is high?
I bet if you were strong enough to lift a dragon you wouldn't need to learn a formal martial art to fight people.
Well true, I can just imagine a dragon being sliced in half by a judo chop

DF Suggestions / More magic sliders
« on: August 27, 2019, 04:45:23 pm »
Hi just a secret lurker here deciding to give a suggestion about the magic slider in the future myth and magic update. So I recommend Toady separate this slider into three:
    1. Magic occurrence: this slider affects how many civs have access to magic(basically the original slider idea).
    2. Magic strength: the chances of magic being strong in your world from the lowest slider would create purely weak magic like create water droplets from your pinky to high where every magic is crazy like spells that sends meteors down from heaven.
    3. Magic consequences: basically how severe consequence of most of the magic are example for the lowest slider no consequences for any magic at all so have fun spamming to your hearts content to high slider where every magic require your liver or something.
This would help let people get world's they really want without having to wait for the future editor (whenever that is). Toady can change the names of the sliders or keep it.
