Yep. Once I disable the "set room as barracks/armory" option they all flood to the upper level and rush to their rooms.

I had my military dwarves set to "sleep in rooms" so I reset it to "sleep in barrack" but it did not make a lickin' difference.  :(

Alright, this is starting to get frustrating.   :mad:

Even my dwarves with assigned rooms choose to sleep in the barracks (which I lowered down two levels) then in their respective, nicely designed rooms. They'll then wake up and bitch about their "poor living conditions."    :mad:   :mad:   :mad:   :mad:   :mad:   :mad:   :mad:

My entire fortress is sleeping in my bedless barrack despite the fact it's right next to an apartment suite, complete with beds, then they start complaining about sleeping on the floor. How can I fix this?  :(

Yeah, I didn't notice those dead dwarves until now. I guess they've been there for awhile.  :(

But any ways, thanks for the tips zagibu and Areyar! I'll start the process here, soon and maybe I'll post the inevitably disastrous results.  :D

I'm trying to tap that water to make a well and create a general water supply but I'm at lost seeing as it's quite distant from my fortress.

Currently, my population is 43 dwarves and there's been a lot of troublemakers and I'm not too sure how to assign a sheriff. I checked the dwarf fortress wiki, but it's not very informative, only telling what kind of room your sheriff would prefer.
