to get to your elusive menu -

press o, this will take you to a menu called options and settings

the press r, which will take you to another menu called refuse options

you will find the thing you're looking for there, but it's not a useful setting for all the time as  your dwarves will constantly be wandering far off collecting skulls and garbage.

ah, but when my dwarves are outside they vomit due to their high intolerance to uv radiation or something.

plus - thats boring.

Is there any way to clean your dwarves? I can handle blood and vomit splatters all over my fortress walls and such, but when my dwarves inventory consists of pig tail clothes and about 20 blood and vomit splatters, i kinda want to engineer some way to clean themm.

i thought of placing a waterfall room in a main hallway with a grate or something to drain the water so that as dwarves walk through the hall, they clean themselves - but due to my previous... catastrophies with crazy water schemes in the past, i dont have the guts...

I agree, magma would be more impressive, though probably harder to clean up afterwords...

I decided it would be pretty cool to make a 11 level high stepped pyramid out of obsidian with a waterfall cascading down the side and a clear glass box at the top for my catapult team to fire from during goblin sieges.

I had built it up to about 4 z-levels (the base being 30x30) and dug out two chambers directly beneath the pyramid - one for about 15 masons workshops and the other to hold the water for the waterfall. My pump designs were, however flawed as somehow it caused a collapse on 20 or more masons, which caused another collapse bringing down the entire pyramid in a cloud of dust, blood, vomit and dwarf chunks. This killed some 40 more dwarves on top of the pyramid and 20 more trying to help those knocked out during the first collapse.

i will try to be less ambitious now. The pyramid will be a tower and only span 10x15 and 6 z-levels.

Sufjan Stevens. Its sorta like the officially composed music, melodic and brooding with some quite happy and upbeat songs as well.

I try not to listen to anything too fast or catchy because with my slow frame rate, it makes the dwarves seem t o m ov e  e v e n    s l o w   e    r.    .      .

A guard is someone who at chapter three (or ten minutes into the film) rushes into the room, attacks the hero with his friends one at a time and get visciously slaughtered.

Nobody asks them if they wanted to.
