DF Gameplay Questions / Manage Orders and Multiple workshops...
« on: September 02, 2010, 05:08:12 pm »
So, I've queued up 120 orders of blocks for my magma pump stack. However, the manager put them all into two workshops, leaving the other three unoccupied. Unperturbed, I just put a repeat order on blocks for the other three workshops. No masons are working there, though they sit with no jobs.

Is there some sort of artificial limit to how many simultaneous workshops can work on producing the same product?

Sparring doesn't seem to increase anyone's weapon skill... is this a glitch, or does sparring not work properly yet?

Maybe the Force-A-Nature is another bat, and you can have two bats at once!

Well, I tried to write a program that would output thousands of repetitive names, all numbered and such... Simple program is below:

Spoiler: It's in Python! (click to show/hide)

And here's my output:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

... So, can anyone help me out or rewrite my program? I unfortunately can't code in Mandarin.

When it comes to classes, I really prefer freeform development. As an example, IVAN basically grows your character from your playstyle. If it were finished, with a proper magic system, it'd be a great example of this method. I figure that to balance the switching problems is to make the first few levels gain very quickly, and the stronger the enemy, the quicker the levels. That way, when you switch weapons late-game, it isn't a fantastic choice, but you should be able to get within a livable amount of skill quickly.

An interesting discovery: this may or may not have been said, but if you pick up a shotgun in a store and shoot the shopkeeper, you are not chased down by the shopkeepers. This is how my best character came about.

180 deaths, haven't seen the 10th level yet. I almost always start from the beginning, as my ventures in the forests without goods from earlier are short and bloody.

Me and Keiseth have been working on a Roguelike for about 6 months now. It's been on and off in terms of actual work and progress (School does not agree with my coding schedule...) The rougelike will feature things never before seen in rougelikes and most RPG's. I'm very excited to see the results. We need an artist, if anyone is interested... No immediate work, hell, graphics are the last things I'm worried about.

Dare I ask about the name? "Love" doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

RTFM, or in this case, read the fucking link. The name does not tell you about the game. Dwarf Fortress could be a shmup where you blaze through fortresses of bloodthirsty dorfs. Honestly, Love looks awesome, I hover in anticipation.

WURM online seems to fit, however I haven't gotten around to playing that one yet. Give it a try, I'd say. It's free to play, but pay to win, so if you like it, register.

did you get the full ending that you get when you get all the gems?

Yes. Marginally better then original ending, but just that, marginally. It wasn't expected, but it wasn't scary at all, nor was bad ending.

Played it, beat it. Overall, it was meh. Not much new, and the ending wasn't too surprising. It had a fairly good build-up too, if it'd been a bit more imaginative it would've been memorable. Unfortunately, traditional platforming is pretty damn boring.

How are the NICE representatives chosen?

The rule would add one into the government, to vote as the current supporter votes. It's essentially a bonus vote, that must be used.

Quote
How are points divided?

Say there is two players with 5 points, one with 2, one with 10. A donation of 24 points is made. They each get 8 points, except for the two players with 5, they split their share of 8 into 2 shares of 4 and 4.

You dig up some minerals, but there is a rumbling underground. Suddenly, the tunnel behind you collapses, bringing with it a shifting of stones. It make take some work to dig out.
