The new world I got from Create New World Now was one I'd never seen the likes of before from that option. It has a lot of water and the land is a lot sparser than normal, more spread out too, Goblins on one continent, Elves and Humans on the other. Got my first migrant wave in summer too, and almost all of the dwarves came with a High-Master skill level of something and lots of Competents in other skills; I got a High-Master Miller who is a Competent Spear, Shield, Armor, Fighter, and Dodger dwarf.

I also got this guy, who just cracked me up when I saw it.

Posting these questions again:

Question #1: Will the environment a dwarf is raised in affect what they like/dislike? For example, if a dwarf is unhappy as a child being raised in a fortress made entirely out of mined Orthoclase, will said dwarf dislike Orthoclase as an adult? Or as a counter-example, If a dwarf is happy whilst being raised in a room of Kaolinite, will said dwarf like Kaolinite when they become an adult?

Question #2: Is it possible that you could maybe put Scamps in the game? Like maybe as a roaming invulnerable kitten with an exotic tag? We could train it to claw at the face of invading elves, steal their paper, and go up in their cave and eat it.

Making the gargantuan statues who walk the earth and crush nations have a molten core is the OPPOSITE of what should happen here.

A walking statue of metal should be neigh invulnerable. What, is a dwarf going to hit it with a hammer? No. That would do nothing.

Magma, magma, magma. Failing that, hide and don't come out.

Ultimate Weapon: BOREDOM!

Maybe hiding is the ultimate defense:  If the megabeast can't kill something or distroy something after a while it should get bored and leave.

DF Bug Reports / [40d14] Cant Exit after Dying in Adventure mode

Whenever I play adventure mode and die, the game wont let me exit. Escape does nothing, and its not like its frozen because stuff is still flashing, its just escape doesnt respond. Escape responds in all other cases except when I die in adventure mode.

People keep on recommending to get your skills up super high before quests, but how can I do that, i rarely find wild animals.

I got lucky and got killing a wolf for my first quest, then it was to kill an elven druid, and after that I was able to get an axeman to follow me, then I went to kill a cyclops, but he killed me with my shield Q_Q. How might I be able to do better than that?

Is there going to be some system where when a dwarf is born their surroundings affect their likes and dislikes. Like if a baby is raised by a family that lives in a room made out of orthoclase they from then hate the color yellow? Something like that.

I dont know what it is, but I used to prefer tilesets, but now I seem to only be entertained by the ASCII.

I would like it only if the tunnelers could only breach non smoothed walls. That way you could possibly stop your fortress from being breached but only if it is:

A) Built into the rock, not the soil
B) Smoothed out completly

This would allow you to possibly let the enemies into a specific area of your fort, possibly one riddled with traps or marksdwarves or even a tamed mega beast.

Hey i was building an irrigation chamber for farming in the mountain when two miners and a farmer got locked in for about 5 or so days cause my mechanic kept on eating and going on breaks. Since then whenever my second miner has nothing to do he just goes and sits in the irrigation chamber, I was wondering why he does it. Kind of annoying when i want to fill it back up with water.
