I've done that. I can't do it in the center tile since the stairs block it, but the message suggests it shouldn't be there anyway ("Must have magma accessible from below one of the 8 boundary tiles"). All of the surrounding magma forges, magma smelters etc. work fine.

It's okay if it's just a bugged-out third party plugin since I have other methods of generating power (giant windmill farms are not fun to set up) but it'd be good to know for future reference.

That fixed it, thanks.

One more question: how does the geothermal engine work? I have it above magma but I can't work out how to get power out of it. It's not affecting any gears or axles attached to the power tiles. Same thing happened with the steam engine. The manual doesn't mention anything about it.

Understandable!

Do you know why I can't make grenades at the moment? I have a pile of blackpowder...



...and grenade/bomb casings of all kinds of materials...




...yet it doesn't want to let me make anything.



Hitting the reaction just shows me 'grenade casings' and '  blackpowder pouch' [sic] which should both be available. No burrows around and everything is accessible. Any idea what's up?

When a nature shrine tells me "that animal doesn't want to join you", what does it mean exactly? I tried to charm some giant otters but it didn't work. It's a different message from the low skill one so I assume there's a different cause.

All my corpses are necromorphs. I would be okay with dealing with this buuuuut...

A) My FPS dropped to single digits the moment the necromorphs spawned.
B) I did the ritual to banish necromorphs... which did absolutely nothing except waste the marker and a dwarf.

Are they supposed to immediately die out? If not, how long does it take? If so, has my game bugged out, and is there any way for me to manually cause the necromorph genocide (with dfhack for example)?

I think someone asked this earlier but I can't find the post. Why can't my warlocks do anything with the specific <Race> Souls I get from invaders? I have a few human souls sitting in my butcher's and plenty of hourglasses but they aren't touching it. Everything else I kill gets processed fine. Are these for a special purpose?

Also are centaurs meant to count as full megabeasts? I've had nearly a dozen now and they haven't been that much of a problem to deal with. (Although that might just be because my brawlers are all legendary from beating up an unconscious bull moose for a full season)

Hi, I built this custom creature as a way of testing out the modding system. However there's a few problems-

1) The gem in the center of its chest should be made out of diamond, but it reports as being steel instead. What am I doing wrong?
2) The gas that gets released by the creature is supposed give you a syndrome that stops you from using your hands. Victims still get the syndrome but there doesn't seem to be any effects. Did I mess something up?
3) The gem is embedded in the upper body. This means you should be able to gouge it out with wrestling, right? So why can't I do that when I grab their body with my hands?

I think Goblins have been buffed... Me as a GM Swordmaster/GM Fighter Human vs. three or four Novice Swordsmen/Novice Fighter goblins and they parried every. single. strike.

Eventually I just threw my sword and them and tossed myself in the lava pit.

And yes, the recruit under him has "watch Dodging demonstration."

Still dunno how to choose which demonstration he does.

The question is, how are you supposed to demonstrate Dodge by yourself? :P

I've been trying to mod in human-clones who basically explode if you cut them. So far I've garnered... blood that explodes when you pick it up, briefly coating you in boiling blood. Can someone help? :)

Here's what I'm using for the blood - basically just modified blood with the SPEC_HEAT and MAT_FIXED_TEMP upped a bunch. I'm not sure what they do, though, so it's entirely probably that I'm doing something wrong. :p

DF General Discussion / Memory editing apps and Steam VAC Bans

I distinctly remember a topic posted on these forums about a user who ran a Steam game (I believe it was TF2) while using one of the DF memory editing apps. He ended up getting VAC banned, but it was lifted after he sent in a steam support ticket and explained what happened. Does anyone have a link to that topic? I need it for another forum.
