I would like to read more about Standardfocus.

Also, your tavern link is broken.

I make elves less fanatical about plants.  It's rather ridiculous that killing plants is unthinkable by default.  What do they eat? Do they scavenge decaying plant matter like vultures? Photosynthesis?

I give them access to all the jobs the other civs have except for anything meat related.  I also remove the wood weapons tag so they can use real weapons to defend themselves from the goblins.

All aquifers are removed because I can't deal with them.

Thanks to this thread I will be making lead a candidate for ammo and fixing the grazers tag.

I've always avoided LNP but wow it's actually kindof neat.  Remove aquifers with one click?  Nice!

I do have an issue though.  I can't get Dwarf Therapist to connect to DF.  I can get it to connect if I run it as root but I hate doing that and I can't seem to get ptrace to work. :(

Oh, and does anyone have issues trying to get DT to resize?  Its super wide and I can only control how vertical it is.

Question building Dwarf Therapist in linux.
I built it and is currently sitting in the Games category in my menu but will not run when I click on it.  I run 'dwarftherapist' in the terminal and I get infinite computer vomit which repeats.

Code: [Select]
)
which: no kdesu in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/core_perl)
/usr/bin/dwarftherapist: line 182: xmessage: command not found
which: no kdesudo in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/core_perl)
)
which: no kdesu in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/core_perl)
/usr/bin/dwarftherapist: line 182: xmessage: command not found
which: no kdesudo in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/core_perl)
)

As far as I can tell its looking for the 'KDE su' command.  I am not using KDE.  I am running Antergos using MATE.  Am I doing something wrong or do I simply have to install kdesu?

All stone must be removed from a room before it can be used.
The entire room must be smoothed before it can be used.
All input and output stockpiles must be setup before the workshop can be used.

These things are the reason I have trouble setting up my first carpentry workshop before the first caravan.

I have a female King.  A few hours after embark she became one.  She likes to attend meetings.

My Chief Medical Dwarf murdered Tosid Wiredomains and created "Rampagefated" a dwarf bone buckler.
The previous Chief Medical Dwarf was killed via copper pickax to the head.

Cue tantrum spiral and no living competent doctors and my dwarves are dying left and right.

I didn't know the wiki ever had ads.

I guess ignorance can be bliss!

DF General Discussion / Re: RIP: Your First Fort
« on: June 10, 2014, 04:14:16 am »
My first fort starved to death.

Somehow I managed to figure out how to build a well in my first fort and yet not understand farming.  I thought all those barrels in my stockpile meant I had food. Made sense, that is how all games worked.  The less icons in my stockpile must mean less food.  Then goblins showed up.  I managed to somehow hastily seal the fort but with everyone slowly dying one by one and not understanding why I flooded the place to put them out of their misery.

My second fort died of thirst.

Not wanting to have another surprise goblin invasion I decided to build an emergency lockdown hatch connected to a control-room near where my dwarves congregated.  I was not aware that by linking doors to levers they could no longer be operated by the dwarves and had to be manually switched open/closed and defaulted in the closed state.  I had not built a well yet and did not realize that they had no access to water until they all died of thirst around the same time.  The only survivor was a lone hunter who was locked out of the fort.  This dwarf wasn't thirsty due to the nearby stream but was going hungry due to no wildlife and my ignorance of the command to tell dwarves to forage for berries.

It wasn't until my third fort I learned about farming and booze production.  Which fell in flaming glory when a dragon attacked.  I learned that day that dwarves love socks more than life itself...  I learned of the dreaded tantrum spiral and I also learned that I fell in love with this game.

Woo! 70%
DF has certainly boosted my knowledge in geology.  Proof games can be educational and fun.

The only Australia related question I got right was number one and that was due to my interest in anything radioactive.

He hung out with us last night and watched movies and TV and stuff. He's really nice and nothing was awkward. Turns out he doesn't like girl's clothes, but his boyfriend does. :)

They are an adorable couple.

Yay! Don't let what the others said get to you;reading your posts makes me feel like you will be a good friend to him. :)
