Imagine unlimited amounts of kitties all in gladiator and samurai armor.  If this guy's not a legendary metalcrafter, I don't know who is:

That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Ever.

@Mephansteras - Thanks!

@Fault - Didn't I help you get your SJ account set up right before I ended up with Swine Flu? o.o I also used to be one of the SJ admins.  But yeah, I joined the forums here way after I initially made Strike the Earth--I did most of my STE stuff for the DF thread on something awful.

If anyone is interested, Strike The Earth! is updating again. I got super sick back in November and was out of commission for about 2 weeks, and for some reason it never crossed my mind that I hadn't set pages to auto-update past page 15.

So yeah, to make up for it, it updates every day until this story line is done. I've got the next forty pages on the auto-update already, and I just have to scan the ones after that.

Sorry for the disappearance. -_-

Oh, so you were one of the administrators there? Cool :D.
Also, thank you for you name. Yesterday I went to buy a medicine for mom and couldn't find a paper to write down the name.
Fortunately the name of the medicine was "Arbidol", so I remembered it as "Ahrbee doll" :P.

Haha you're welcome =P Ahrbee = R.B. = Ran Brown

Yeah, I was an admin there for a few years. It was fun, but it was also a lot of work, and ever since I got married and moved out into the country, I just haven't had the time, so I retired right before the relaunch of the forums on smackjeeves.

Anyhoo, going on a road trip to the Bio-Dome now!

yeah a bunch of times...

I also sent a query email to the smack jeeves host, asking if something like this has occured before.
I hope he doesn't think I'm trying to obtain personal information or whatever...

I sent Dan a message asking him to resend you your confirmation e-mail. Hopefully he'll respond soon. I had a bit of a 'rats, why did I retire?!' moment, because I could have fixed this up for you, no problem, thirty seconds. =P He might need the e-mail you signed up with (just in case there was a typo in it, which is why you might not have gotten it), so if you wanna PM me that, I'll have it on hand for when he responds.

Uh oh, I feel a strange feeling.

At first I notice that your "awesome" 5 rating moved to an average of 3. So I thought that someone placed "1" for some reason and went to check the stats...
Total Page Views:      3,868 views
Total Unique Visitors:    724 visitors
It's in 3 days.

Take it from me, former smackjeeves administrator, ratings are not important.

Lowballing happens on smackjeeves. That's why I took the ratings off of Strike The Earth completely. Also, ratings are only good on that website if you're competing with people on the Hot page. Dwarf Fortress is such a niche audience that there's no way you'll ever get on there, so there's no point worrying about it.

Also, SJ is terrible for traffic. All of those pageviews were likely from this forum. The same thing happened to STE, and since I have Google analytics installed, it was really easy to see where they were coming from.

Boatmurdered was entertaining but it was mostly just one or two of the contributers that were excellent writers who made the story good.

*coughSankiscough*

Anyhow, I like it so far =) I can't help at all, but look forward to reading more.

@Danarca: Tis a myth, I say. Maybe it's the fact that I'm female, but the idea of a race of bearded women creeps me right the hell out.
If you ever decide to come to a DF IRL meetup, grow a beard  :D :D

Eeeew. Not going to happen. I'm not sure that I'll ever g to a DF IRL meet, either. I'm a bit far away, up here in Canada. Far away and too poor to afford such a trip.

Okay, rough sketches. Ima colour these when it isn't midnight, and I don't have to get up to go to work in 6 hours.

For metorical:

I don't actually know what purring maggots look like, but I've always pictures them as equal parts vaguely adorable and horrifying them, which is how I ended up drawing them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

For chmod:

Again, this is what I imagine a dungeon master--covered in furs, horns, bones and apparently capes. God I'm tired.

I'll draw stuff for people who donate and want stuff from me. I'm poor as shit, so it's the most I can do at this point in time.
Perfect. I have some picture frames waiting for new tenants. I would love a picture of a cape-collecting dungeon master in his room surrounded by capes.

Durf, also I call this one. You both donated an ass-ton, so I draw you pretty things.

I finally decided to donate so there's $150 winging it's way over to Toady.

Could I have a picture please? Something to do with purring maggots perhaps :P

I call this one. I call it, I call it, miiiine.

Ima have this coloured for you.

It was hard not to. I know the comic's audience comes from a rather different place than the typical webcomic's audience. I guess it's more of a niche topic. I've worked on many comics online over the past ten or so years, and every time you end one, or have to go on hiatus, there's usually backlash.

I guess I sometimes forget that I'm not the only person experiencing the effects of the recession first hand. Sorry, chaps!

That's a nicer reaction than what I'd been expecting. =) To be honest, I was totally expecting pitchforks and torches and shotguns, but in a more verbal than physical way.
