DF Bug Reports / Re: (0.31.01) (re)Named items

Still happening to me in .08. Ever 30 seconds or so, my Militia Commander insists on renaming his crossbow. I'll have a look at the announcements scripts in the .inis I guess. At least I should be able to stop the message from popping up and pausing the game.

A Forgotten Beast just arrived through the caverns.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Its name translates to "silty sin-crevice of thieves". I should beware its "spittle". I hope the dorfs didn't catch anything while butchering the thing.

My fortress now holds 8 artifacts. The most recent two are both giant cave spider silk turbans. How unlikely is that?

Pictures in spoilers.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As you can see, my dorfs are rather fond of menacing spikes. So much so that I have an artifact TOY miniforge that menaces with spikes of native platinum. And fiber.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Reclaim Fortress fail

Yep, absolutely. I checked the axedorfs' equipment in disbelief again and again while they were being ripped apart. Iron mail, shields of various quality, iron axes. All highly trained.

I think its the goblin growing attached to her weapon that made her indestructible to my dorfs.

/sigh

Back to a backup.

[EDIT] Reverted to a backup and walled the gobbo in. All the friendly gobbos have survived thus far without eating anything. I wonder whether she'll become susceptible to hunger/thirst after turning hostile.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Reclaim Fortress fail
« on: June 27, 2010, 10:11:47 pm »
Hi!

Thought I'd share my experience with Reclaim Fortress mode.
My previous fortress got swarmed by gobbos. I thought it pretty, so decided to reclaim. Some (all?) of the gobbos that participated in the initial genocide show up in the fortress when you reclaim it. They're friendly (Wiki notes all of this).

Wiki does not note that the next time you get an Invasion of Vile Forces of Darkness, the friendly gobbos turn bad. I assume the invasion flags the lot hostile together with the actual invaders. Anyway, by that time, the squatters would likely have grown attached to their implements of murder.

While the invaders beat their chests in futility outside my impressive surface gates, a single (that's ONE) gobbo attached to her pike massacred the fortress from within -- all of its 107 dorfs-turned-militia, including 20 iron-clad axedorfs. The green-skinned harlot wouldn't even bleed.

Frustration!

Also, a whole bunch of items leftover from the abandoned fortress in reclaim mode are stuck in place. Every time a dorf tried to pick one up, I get an "object misplaced" message. The items are not forbidden and I've tried dumping them too.

Apologies, Ametsala's got it right. The url is: http://twitter.com/HYPERPOWERi

I'm generally the first to raise up torches and arms against those who frequent social networking sites, but I have to admit that this is a VERY interesting use of the service.  Really interesting!

To an extent, I'm the same regarding social networks (unless you're famous and I want to hear about your work/tour/whatever). Twitter just seems like a pretty perfect way to chronicle DF games. I hope more people will pick up on it.

Hi, All.

I've started a Twitter account to record what's happening in my current DF game.

You can find it here: http://twitter.com/home?page=2
