can you be more specific?
From what I understand you can only transmit power vertically, or on the horizontal axis (Up/Down, Side/Side). Diagonals are not supported.

It's been about 4 years since I settled here.

I have the ranting rodent's graphics pack, Dig Deeper and I added learning tags to my megabeasts to make them last longer, but that's it. Any of those cause problems?

perhaps in some stroke of oddity, all sentient and friendly races were wiped out in an apocalypse.

or you're on an island.
Well, I'm not on an island. And they're not wiped out as it I've had encounters with elves and goblins. (Plus if I'm correct, listing a king, mayor, etc. in civs means they're active?)

Is it just that they're taking a while to get here? I saved, copied the folder and went to check the civ's location and they're all on the other side of the world. Will they get here eventually?
Note, the top circle is my location and the bottom 3 are dwarven civs.

Ok, so I like "Fun" and have started only embarking on savage/haunted areas (Where they share the same embark area) But for some reason, I never seem to see ANY sign of the Dwarves, no caravans or anything, but they show up when I press c under Civs. Why aren't they trading with me or any migrants arriving?

Banned for misspelling "banned".

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: A couple of questions

Had another question but felt like bumping this thread would be better than making a new one.

So, I've made a few worlds using this world_gen code:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It works pretty good for everything I want and I've found quite a few ideal spots. My problem is that for some reason dwarven caravans or migrants NEVER come to where I settle. It says that the dwarves exist under civilizations, they have a king, etc. but they never show up. Not even a "bypassed your site" message. I've made sure that my Depot has access, made wealth (Over 200k of it) and all I get is trading with humans, elves and halflings. Although I do embark on Savage/Evil tiles, I was expecting to get SOME sort of immigrants but none show up. Not even after 7 ingame years.

What could be the problem?

I've spent the 4 Dwarven years trying to figure out why my depot was not getting access. I paved a road, clear cut trees, smoothed boulders, carved ramps, did everything I could think of. Then I read on the forums that the depot access map starts at the actual building. Checking this revealed that wagons can't go over stairs, not even horizontally. *facepalm*

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What to do with captured creatures?

There's lots of horrendously evil things you can do with them.  Run a search across the board.  This has been discussed a few times before.  Personally, I usually just throw them in a pit or release them to the Arbiter's Grounds...

Maybe I'm just horrible at searching as I couldn't find anything?

On a side note though, how do you go about moving and releasing a specific cage when you have multiple ones?

So, I've just now started using cage traps which are wreaking havoc with any ambushes that show up but I don't know what to do with the captured goblins and dark elves that are now accumulating in my stockpiles. What do you do with your captured enemies?

So unless I'm mistaken I'm going to be starting on the nil save a few posts up. I'll keep you guys up to date with anything major that goes on.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Think I'm going to end my turn a bit early as my character died and that made things slightly less fun without someone to live vicariously through. Just a couple of notes, the fort is in the middle of a goblin siege, I have my labyrinth ready to cave in on itself to clear a large area and "Arathel's estate, still has orders to be mined out in the upper left hills. Other than that, nothing really big happened other than I continued the sky bridge slightly.  Someone want to instruct me as to where to upload the save to?

EDIT: Ok, I figured out the file upload thing. Here's the link http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1802

Couple of games that I feel like mentioning:

1. Xcom: UFO Defense was the best turn based strategy game I've played. When I think of the long hours I sunk into this game commanding my forces and scraping enough resources together on superhuman difficulty to fight back all I can think of is good times. The other two sequels were ok but didn't really hit the same feel as the first one.

2. Masters of Orion 2: I never really got into the first one as it was before my time but my friends and I became obsessed with this game. We wrote back stories for our races, held summits where we would assemble and discuss diplomatic relations every few turns and generally had an awesome time.

3. Warlords 2: Yet another old turn based game, this was yet again something FUN.

4. Battles of Destiny: To those of you who know of it, congrats, it was epic.

5. Starcraft: It's STARCRAFT.

Ok, this is erring on the side of ridiculous now let me just state the issue that you two seem to be skirting. It's painfully obvious that andrea doesn't believe you Ze Spy and quite frankly you're not doing a good job of convincing either. Just put up some definitive proof showing that you did in fact come up with this miraculously unlikely area or we're not going to believe you.

what about arathel?
Well, I'm here. Actually just now logged on to check and see if I got the spot or not.

Decently sized fort, just finished laying out how I wanted it and was waiting for migrants. Elven traders arrived and I opened the front gate to let them in. (It had been closed because I was in a terrifying biome) Anyways, the elves almost make it to my gate and are killed by skeletal eagles. I laugh while watching this, thinking of the free goods I just got when I see one of the eagles fly into my fortress and down the ladder to where my 7 dwarves are. Chaos ensued resulting in one miner in the food supply room, he went insane and then tried to run to the entrance and got killed in the hallway. "Your settlement has crumbled to it's end."

It was a perfect geographic location too. :(
