Thanks everyone for the input.
Completely forgot about the TW games. Weird, considering I've played a lot of Rome (the first one) and Empire in the past.
Dyson Sphere should fit perfectly my tastes (218 hours on Factorio and 618 on Oxygen not Included) and also Mechwarrior 5. Played a shit-ton of MW2 when I was a teen.

NMS, I don't know. I was very hyped but I read it can be quite repetitive. May consider it when it's on sale.

Right, forgot about Cyberpunk. How is it doing currently? Last time I checked I've read it still has some glitches, but nothing game-breaking.
Elden Ring, that's a no. Don't like the genre at all.
Darktide looks interesting, I'll keep it in mind. For some reason I never really got into warhammer games (only played mordheim for a while), so this looks like a good opportunity.

Great graphics, or demanding graphics? I feel like the genres you mention tend to not really go for the cuttingest of cutting edge graphics, but there are some terribly-optimized ones out there if you want to ram your rig into a wall and see how well it pushes through.

Ideally graphics that are both great and demanding, which I realize isn't that common in the genres I mentioned.
I can also consider action games with some depth to them, as long as it's not the usual railroaded graphic adventure.

Other Games / Looking for graphically demanding games with some requisites
« on: November 03, 2022, 11:32:19 am »
Hello, just bought a new PC (ryzen 7 5700x, 32 gb DDR4 3200 MHz, geforce RTX 3038). Pretty beefy components because it must last for a long while, must be good for 4k video-editing and must be good when I feel the urge to play the latest battlefield game with maxed settings.

Right now I'm not in the mood to play a FPS or action stuff like God of War and the likes, but I want to test the new PC with some demanding games with great graphics.
Can be grand strategy, turn-based, RPG, survival. Something with good replayability and high hardware requirements that's not the usual AAA 10 hours adventure.

I've only watched a couple videos, so I can't really form an opinion.
Things I didn't like at first glance:
- I can easily see the cart driving part becoming very boring very quickly.
- I hate the plague doctor's stance/animations. She was very elegant and graceful in her moves, now she looks like a goblin.

Radsoc won the roll for Frozen Synapse. Now I'm heading out so I'll send the game probably tomorrow.

I've read the rules
This is my Steam profile.

I would like to donate Frozen Synapse.
Since nobody applied for it, I would apply for Pillars of Eternity.

Thanks for hosting this.
On what date would you like to give away Frozen Synapse?

I have no preference for the date. Let's say december 29th because it's empty.

Fictorum looks interesting and it's like 3€, so I'm definitely going to check it.

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic actually is in my pile of "probably bought in some bundle and promptly forgot about it" games. So thanks for reminding me.

I tried ToME and in theory it's a game I should enjoy. I like punishing games (900 hours on Battle Brothers and 500 on Darkest Dungeon) and ToME ticks a lot of the right boxes, but for some reason I never stick with it for more than a couple hours. Probably the main offender is the extremely cumbersone item/inventory system.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I'm feeling to itch to play something with high fantasy settings. I don't really have something specific in mind, but I have a few bullets.
- It must have badass spells and creatures. Ideally, I want to play as a mage that can also summon stuff.
- No realtime/clutch combat like Souls games.
- No RTS.
- No spammy hack and slask like Diablo/Grim Dawn.
- So I guess it's something turn-based.
- I don't necessarily need last-gen graphics, but I'm not in the mood for pixel/vintage stuff right now. The combat has to feel satisfying, for lack of a better term.
- I considered the HoMM games, but I would like something more focused on combat and less on strategy/macromanaging.
- Also considered Dragon Age, but I'm not interested into story-heavy games at this point.

I know it's just a list of stuff I don't want, without a real explanation of what I want.
I guess something like Magicka, but turn-based and more high-fantasy.

EDIT: probably some kind of tower-defense would also be fine.

After spending over 500 hours on Oxygen not Included I decided to try other Klei games and I'm currently playing Invisible Inc.

Almost completed my first campaign and it's been a great experience so far. Definitely going to try higher difficulty levels and different game modes.

Playable: I can actually fly a ship in space and shoot at something without catastrophic crashes or game-ending bugs.

Legit question: what's the current state of the game?
Anything playable?
Can't really be arsed to search through a million youtube videos or their forum full of fanatics.

Also, some beautiful medieval towns.
Warsaw I wouldn't describe it as "beautiful", but it's a very interesting city.

It's not like the entirety of eastern Europe looks like Pripyat.

Everybody probably knows it already, but there are some extremely good deals on Steam for Klei games.
There's all the good stuff: Oxygen not Included, Don't Starve, Invisible Inc.
