Is there any distinct difference or dis/advantage to playing a 2,000+ year old world than the standard -1,050?

Actually, look around mountains and you'll find a side of the mountain where the non-aquifer area extends a decent distance (probably has to do with rainfall and the simulated weather patterns). Especially if you use a region instead of island gen in the custom settings. You can find a lot of flat, non-aquifer land that way.

Thank you sir, I will explore this now. Much appreciated.

I guess I just need to adhere real life geology to Dwarf Fortress. Everywhere that's flat or little hills has 2-3 aquifer levels.

Is there any way to avoid aquifers without embarking on the side of a mountain? I really do hate hair thin z levels.

Are prepared organs "better" than regular meat? I'm just curious if I should be embarking with [Prepared Goat Brain] rather than [Goat Meat].

Can dwarves be murdered?

I had a peasant immigrant who vandalized my mayor's desk, in his room. So, the mayor sentenced him to 51 days in jail, but I have no jail. So, this dwarf was just minding his own business in his room and randomly suffocated.

I check his room and there is blood everywhere. It looked as if he was asleep and strangled to death. I come to find that he WAS strangled by my captain of the guard.

Is this just standard procedure, because he didn't go to jail and needed to be punished? Or was this murder is cold blood? This peasant was a legendary hammerlord and my captain of the guard was nothing, so he knew he couldn't best him in combat, so he murdered him in his sleep.

Am I just over reacting?

The creation of alters to sacrifice animals or bring offerings to gods would be neat.

Urist McGod is a god which is associated with metal and stuff, so your dwarves bring an offering and possibly gain ore/metal/pertaining things from said god, but the probability of a gift/grace would depend on the god and what is offered. Possibly gracing your metalsmiths who are not legendary+5 to said level?

DF General Discussion / An idle peasant among legendary+5 dwarves
« on: February 03, 2011, 02:19:04 am »
I was created from the combined loins of a competent trader, my mother, and a proficient dyer, my father. I sprawled from the womb in late Moonstone 1990, near the beginning of Opal 1991 in The Age of Ignorance. Crawling within my parent's assigned 1x1 bedroom, I ached for more. I began to walk and then I ran across this world known as "Earth The Universe Of Uncertain-Ambiguity".

Being caught in the rain, sleeping without a proper bed, witnessing death, enduring the decay of a friend, and being fond of drink, but not industry, I have learned and grown. It is now Obsidian 2011 in The Age of Frustration. I am 20. A dabbling mechanic, dyer, and cook, I hold the status of Peasant, and I am idle.

I dream of the day I will become struck with a Fey mood and find my true calling, my destiny, to become a legendary dwarf.  I want to fight the greats of lore. Forgotten beasts, dragons, and hydras would fall by my battle-axe of passion if they still existed in this age. But, I am quick to discourage, for I feel that I may have to settle for the title I harbor, forever.

Perhaps I shall migrate from the mountainhomes of "Oregon Cascadia-Heart" with the next caravan and begin my ascent to Legendary Dwarfhood. Until then, I will dream and remain an idle Peasant among Legendary+5 Dwarves.

Is there any reason why

crash my Dwarf Fortress client? I assume it's because I'm already stressing my system with 90 dwarfs and a huge underground cavern, but it just makes me sad. I want to finally fight a worthy opponent.

Thanks guys. I have a few engravings, but nothing too crazy. Half of my fortress is engraved with the image of my first artifact, an animal trap, or the creation of said trap. So, I guess well see.

Edit -
Speaking of forgottens, I just aroused one. Fun ensued in the most hardcore way I have ever felt, Dwarf Fortress crashed, time to reload.

Thank you, very appreciated.

Also, does attracting MBs, increase anything other than food? Would it cause great lore that I have slain one, attracting other friends and foes?
