DF Gameplay Questions / Re: A question about Mayday's DFG
« on: October 19, 2010, 05:49:49 pm »
Read the Maday faq at:http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.php

1) Copy the music from your "official" dwarf fortress to your "mayday" fortress folder. Think it's located in: \data\sound. THere are 2 sound files not included, song_game.ogg and sound_title

2) from the faq: Note 2: The default tileset is HIGHLITED (all the tiles have backgrounds). If you don't fancy that, the folder data/art contains additional tilesets you can choose from. Edit the file /data/init/init.txt and replace every instance of mayday.png with a tileset of your liking. There are also other options to choose from, like tilesets that don't mess up the text.

3) no way to automatically update, either use the FAQ above or wait for the new set.

DF Gameplay Questions / d-b-d to disarm gobbos not working?
« on: September 28, 2010, 09:30:51 pm »
Evening all,

I've been trying to mass dump (and then undump cages via 'k') the gear of a certain set of unwelcome guests who are casually lounging behind bars in a stockpile....
I designated a 1x1 garbage dump and tried to mass dump and then unselect the cages, but doesn't seem to be working...believe this is in .12
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks!

DF General Discussion / Re: What turns you off about DF?

Kind of a newby, here. I learned by doing the tutorials and watching Captn Duck's videos.
For me, it's the UI. There's very little consistency and it's not intuitive in the least. I haven't even started looking at what i have to do to start a military in 2010.
Keep plugging away, it's a great game!

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Chucking goblins in pits...help
« on: November 21, 2009, 02:11:39 am »
Thank you all for the helpful replies!
Unfortunately, I only built my drowning chamber 1 Z-level deep. Even when I filled it all the way to 7/7, the goblin 'guest' was able to cope with it...was he swimming? At any rate, I failed to build a drowning chamber, I instead have built a goblin jacuzzi. ::)

DF Gameplay Questions / Chucking goblins in pits...help
« on: November 20, 2009, 05:59:08 pm »
Greetings all, just starting on my first official fortress (after having done the Complete Newby guide, cheers Tiny Pirate), and I've built a drowning chamber that I would like to test out on a few of my uncooperative goblin guests. Can anyone walk me through the process? I so far have chucked a caged goblin into the pit, released a goblin via lever, who proceeded to make a break for it (but didn't get too far), and now I have built a cage b-j and got a goblin in a cage at the edge of my pit. How can I command a dwarf to take him out of the cage and chuck him in the pit? Many thanks for your help, and apologies for my density (-->uranium).
