I'm using version 2.0.2 and am having precisely the same problem -- too many redirects. I too have used it successfully twice, and now on the third time I'm getting this error. MacOS as well. No indication in the console of any issue.

I *love* this idea. In fact, I got to this thread by googling "dwarf fortress book" -- would love to have something to hold in my hands that is one (or more) steps beyond the "newby" tutorial. (Which got me to the point where I'm fascinated by this game as well, but still leaves me with a TON to learn...)
