DF Gameplay Questions / What is up with labors?!
« on: August 04, 2023, 04:35:06 pm »
Ok I genuinely don't understand why labors are working the way they are.

I *thought* that if I set a work detail and then selected "Only selected do this" that I would be able to control who was doing masonry. But for whatever reason, this only works if I tell *all* of my dwarves to be specifically specialized to only their work details? Which seems to defeat the purpose of anything.

I'm really *trying* to get into the new dwarf fortress but it feels like every five minutes I run into something like this that makes me want to dropkick new DF out of my window. What am I missing?

See: (this is before I set all my dwarves to specialized), the bowyer is *not* part of the work detail for masonry.

9 cheers for splinterz!

(it would have been three but splinterz is quadratically awesome)
shouldnt it be 12 then
quadratic equations deal with squares, so no:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadratic

it's highly likely that the idea of "quadrupling" is related to the fact that a square (latin: quadratum) has four sides.

Splinterz:

Thanks for your hard work!  Frankly Therapist makes the game playable for me.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: October 08, 2014, 08:01:20 pm »
One of my dwarves got spontaneously promoted to Baroness of Something-or-Other as she was the rightful heir.

We have 18 dwarves.

She is going to be VERY unhappy with her quarters for the next year or so XD

DF Gameplay Questions / "Bulky" Gauntlet?
« on: October 05, 2014, 12:12:30 pm »
I can't find anything on this on the wiki but...

I just had a posessed armorsmith create a "bulky pig iron gauntlet" and I'm confused as to what the "bulky" part means.

Hey I'm having a problem:  I'm trying to use this version of DT and when I try to connect the therapist to DF (the most recent version released June of 2012) DT freezes and after a while complains that C++ Runtime had to force quit it.  Any ideas?
