Thank you for the answer. Metal industry, here I come!

It's too bad gauntlets are bugged! I predict lost fingers are in the future of my poor alligator man.

Enjoying this mod quite a bit so far! I'm playing an alligator man who wears bone and leather armor. However, I'd really like to be able to make him a sword fit for his stature, and I can't figure out how to make tongs and a hammer.

I absolutely love this tileset. Thanks for making a download with all the other tools bundled together, too. I never would have used them otherwise - really improved my experience with DF.

My only criticism is that some of the sprites are different styles. I'm sure it's because you drew from old/unusued graphics packs, but it's occasionally jarring. I may be more sensitive to that than most, though.

Are there any other sets that use tile replacements? It's an important part of my DF experience now.

That's really good information for me.  I am very picky about the worlds I play in, so I pretty much always gen dozens of worlds before playing.  Sometimes I even delete a world if I don't like the name of it.

Thanks - I tried some of those things, but I was rather tired and a bit frustrated when I did, which could have led to me adding the wrong files to the save. :'( I feel pretty foolish about my poor organization at this point.

I did put it up on the DFFD, although for the above reasons I'm not even sure it's the correct file anymore.

I never had a crash in the middle of saving, though.

Also, did you load a game, even to look at a world for an embark, and then generate a world afterwards?  There used to be a major save corruption bug that occurred when data wasn't cleaned up after unloading a map before generating a new world.

I did this probably two dozen times to get a world where the dwarven civilization was dead and where the world was nice in other ways.  In most cases I deleted the save before generating a new world, but not in all cases.

Thanks for the reply!  I did try that, but it didn't seem to make a difference, so I tried overwriting, which also made no difference.  At this point, I'm thinking it might be related to not having a live civilization, possibly liaison-related.  It didn't seem to be a problem not to have a liaison in the first two years.  When the dwarf caravan arrived, I got a message saying "No liaison? How curious!"  But a queen had just named herself a few seasons prior - since the last caravan had departed.

I guess it could just as easily be something else, too!

I'm getting this bug on 40.24 as well, but in Fortress mode.  http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=10896 for a save that reliably recreates the bug within a few seconds of unpausing.

You're pretty good at animating, not sure how you do. Even my avatar, which is basically only two images was tedious for me. Maybe I put too much details in it, making it harder to edit?

Thanks!  I use GraphicsGale, which is about $20, but has a 30 day free trial.  It has onion skin (transparent frame overlay), which is immensely useful for animating.  It is very unlike photoshop/gimp, so for me there was a learning curve.  Worth it, though!

What program did you use for your avatar?  I think it's pretty neat - it seems sinister.

Hello everyone!  Nice work, all around.  Figured I should probably share my work too.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Embarking in a World Without Dorfs

Neat idea.  Do the other civs continue to grow in the background, or does the rest of the world go into stasis?

Awesome mod compilation.  I use the modest mod alongside accelerated, with a few things of my own thrown in.

Any chance you could include links to the up-to-date tilesets you use?  Or better yet, any chance you can include them in the download?

That seems like a good idea.  Thanks!

I'm well into a game, and discovered that my caverns are apparently devoid of life plant life.  Probably something I did in world gen.  They seem not to have water, either.

Any tips/tricks?  I want to get an underground pasture for my sheep.

DF Modding / Re: Will this reaction and material work?
« on: May 28, 2015, 12:44:52 pm »
That worked - thank you.  My error log seems to consist solely of a complaint about the color of glimmer.  It doesn't influence gameplay, so I don't really care about it.

A funny thing started happening.  Including glimmerrot into the reaction caused it to be considered a valid metal for my civ, and now sometimes migrants or traders arrive with glimmerrot tools or armor.  As soon as they appear on screen, the object turns into a syndrome-laced cloud.  I got a siege operator who had a pretty bad case of it and bled to death over about 5 months.  A year later, there's still some blood on the walls.

A plateau with a river is basically what I had envisioned before, although a high waterfall serves the same purpose.  I have struggled with aquifers in the past, and I generally just don't like dealing with them.  I often find that punching holes in them is tedious and not really part of how I want to play the game.

I did end up genning a world and embarking to a site with a 6-high waterfall.  The main point of this venture was to create a high-pressure trap for visitors that sends them down into a tunnel full of saw traps.  It will be quite fun to watch goblins go in and red water come out!  Sometimes I think I might be a bad influence on myself.
