Yeah, its a known bug. Anyone who ever had individual combat drill, will not work again anymore. They obey kill/move orders tho.

Removing the barrack designation from the room they're training in, has worked for me.

Strange mood and shells in an area with no turtles or cavelobsters.

How can I mod this in(creating shells in a workshop)? I've searched the forums and found a lot of answers but all of them gives me an error in the log file (I'm modifying an existing save, by replacing the bituminous to coke reaction in reaction_smelter.txt)

I know for sure that the tags I use are wrong, because the reaction worked when I copy pasted tags for creating some ore in it. So which is the correct tags to use; I've tried atleast:
[PRODUCT:100:1:CORPSEPIECE:SHELL:CREATURE_MAT:TURTLE:SHELL] and
[PRODUCT:100:1:SHELL:NO_SUBTYPE:TURTLE:NO_MATGLOSS]

or do I also have to edit some other file than reaction_smelter.txt.

Would it be possible to poison a water source? -> do creatures on the map need water ever?

GNNH, military is driving me crazy!

I love the game, but I hate it that I just spent 2 hours trying to get my military wear what I tell them to :) (I'm under the arsenal dorf limit, not possible to appoint one).

And bows/xbows are overpowered :P Had to wait for a caravan to come rescue me when I got my first ambush of 8 xbow goblins :P (I had only couple of iron pieces so far, and by savescumming I tried my military against them.... I got them about 6 steps over the moat before they bled to death, all legendary axedorfs with competent dodge and shieldusage)

Q: I just created a squad from my starting dwarves, planning to train few of them then...

I formed Squad, set few dwarves to it, assigned a room to be training area. I didn't touch schedule or anything at all. Now I have all of my dwarves doing the individual training and I can't get them do their work anymore. I've tried destroying the squad, removing the barracks, reassigning a different squad... nothing helps, now all of my 7 little dorfs are just training, drinking and eating.

Is there a way to stop this madness?

I have the latest version.

Does anything get done?  Sometimes their job status says individual training but they'll do other stuff.  Check your alerts screen, make sure they're inactive.  Also check the squad screen.  You're sure you haven't set them to move somewhere or kill something?


Nope, nothing gets done. I've followed them and all they do is train and eay+drink and I've double checked alerts (and I've destroyed the squads so there's no schedules or anything) anyways, that's gone already gave up the fortress as I ran out of food + drinks due to lack of workforce

2. I'm using the latest 0.31.03, all the prisoners just escaped the moment some dwarf started dragging the cage to the depot.

3. yea I had them use the default leather uniform and I didn't have arsenal dwarf.

Hai2u, new player here.

I have finally my first reasonably successful fortress on a run, I'm at the end of the 2nd year I think. Anyways... Problem:

1.
I got a huuuuge migration wave, (from 15 -> 50 dorfs) and they started going through my booze really fast. I fixed the problem after I noticed that my boozepile had been reduced to around 10. I created another still and put booze on indefinite production. And managed to bring the stockpile up to 60+ anyway, all of this happened in a winter and once the booze was reduced to 10 or so, dwarves started dying of thirst (my pond was frozen), and they kept dying even after I had my booze back to high levels.

Any solutions or suggestions how could I survive the winter without deaths (I have a seasonal save at the beginning of the winter)?

And an additional question... how do I move the cages with prisoners in it? I had several birdies and 1 goblin in my cages, and I decided to drag them to be sold at depot. They all escaped... I've read about creating a zoo, how would I do that? A room designated as a stockpile that only accepts cages or.... ?

3.
And one more about military. My military seems to train only wrestling... I have a lot of training weapons and shields but they still prefer fists. They do wear the leather armor I made but refuse to pick up any weapons.
