How do I designate a coffin to be used by a specific noble (mayor)? I want to bury him in a golden coffin after he dies.
use "q" to assign it like a bedroom or office

Do well materials really make a difference? I built some gold chains, buckets and bars for my next one. Does the mechanism material matter?
Higher quality materials will give a happiness boost. If a dwarf likes a material it will do the same thing.

Didn't get much accomplished. Set up the military on a proper schedule, which did me absolutely no good as the damned elves brought a couple of forces of gobbos with them. End result the military is a shadow of it's former self, and almost half of our fort is dead. However the entire force is dead and SparkGear LIVES!
