Gene: if you're getting squashy graphics, try entering your resolution in graphics_windowed and graphics_fullscreen

also UPDATE.
Horribly weird, but after trying everything and restarting DF about 20 times, I took a break and got back 4 hours later, fired it up. And it worked perfectly. Didn't change anything either since the previous time I started it. Works now none the less.

Also, thanks for this pack/tileset, I don't think I could play without it.

This might have been asked before, but I can't figure out how to change the tileset to one that is less squashed horisontally, ideally, I'd like it to be 1280x800.
If I set that as a resolution I just get a big black area and it is still very slim on the height.

By changing the init.txt file I figured it was this row that I needed to change, how to I know what I should change it to though?

google Dwarf Manager, download it and run it, it helps LOADS when keeping your dwarves employed and getting the works done that you need.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Farming questions

seems reasonable. I have a lot of barrels but I will add some more. Also for me, the planting seems to go in seasons, even if I have seeds my dwarves only seem to plant at certain times. is this true? Otherwise, thanks for the tip about few but skilled dwarves, I have a hard time figuring out if it is the seeds or the time period that stops them from planting, so I tried to eliminate the dwarve theory the best I could :P

DF Gameplay Questions / Farming questions

so, I have recently started playing DF. I find it an generally awesome game.
However, I have run into trouble as of late, can't find any iron, nor any flux :( but that is besides the topic, I suppose it is the place I am in.

Anyway, here is my problem. Farming.
I have set up 4 plots, everything is in order, I am getting a bit of plump helmets.
Generally the amount of plants planted is low, and I barely make it around, even with quite a few gatheres outside. This time however, I decided to put a lot of dwarves on farming. and I quickly saw the results. My plot was getting more full by the minute. Then something disturbing started to happen, something really disturbing.

While my guys was planting, some crop became ripe, and soon I was having a lot of ripe plump helmets. And they started to ROT!
soon half my plot was ripe, and rotting. So I decided to put all the collectors on farming. The results? more plants being planted, and even more rotting helmets. This was a catastrophe!

Is there anyway to avoid this? It feels rather annoying to have a shortage of food and seeing it rot.
