Yeah, no, I came out of the "personality customization" and glanced through the green text to see what got generated as Venom's life goal based on the personality settings... I have to say, I have been amused by the new release before I even started it.

Thank you Toady. You've made a man hopelessly facing his uni semi-finals a bit happier.

Other Games / Re: GTA V/Online Thread! PC Delayed, Good Or Bad?
« on: January 15, 2015, 12:17:29 pm »
It's quite a Paradox in my case:

The delay is a very, very good thing, but it still makes me insanely fucking pissed. Talk about R* messing with people's heads, I swear... But hey, seeing that they may optimize the game as good as they did Max Payne 3 and not GTA IV (which still works relatively shit on my high end gaming rig), some of my friends may actually be able to play Online with me. No one around here has a PS4 or a 360 LIVE subscription, so the PC release is my only chance to play with somebody I know xD

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Ironically parody-like takeover

A funny thing happened on my way to a capital city a bit ago... My LoZ infatuation at the present time drove me to make a human swordsman named Shadow Link (don't laugh. i'm obsessed. Completely.)

I recruited five random characters and renamed them accordingly while traveling. Then I came across a particular castle called abovemandates. Let's just say that I decided to move in. The lady didnt put up a fight at all and was swiftly executed. My bowman tried to negotiate, my maceman ran away, fish cleaner (how'd he get there?) decided to start a 'non-lethal' fight for other reasons, and the lord from the castle I was from gave me questing information on myself and was immediately given the position of 'hearthsperson' by me.

I realised how much of that lined up with a particular manga... and laughed my eyes out.

--Edit--

Aaaaand I fell into a well and retired down there. Because the guy in my party pushed me. The traitor :(
You could just... climb out. Put away your weapons usinq "q", then press "h" and grab on to something. Aftewards just use "<" to go up and get the heck out of there.

Dwarven problem solving has evolved.

The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club.
The second rule if Fight Club is... You do NOT talk about Fight Club.

I was fighting a zombie horde in a deserted town near my human camp spawnplace.
I was foolish enough to try blocking one's punch.

The game crashed.

The end.

As the subject's title says. How the hell am I supposed to navigate myself out of that pre-generated underground mountainhome you're usually put in when starting as a dwarf?

8
So, did somebody say something about a 4th of July release?

No?

Good.

- It was obvious! - *Reloads crossbow* - He's the Red Toad! He'll turn red aaaany second now....
- Aaaany second....  See?! Red! No, wait, that's blood...
- So, we still have problem?
- Alright, who's ready to find the Red Toad?

DF General Discussion / Re: Fianlly.. the release date...

I wonder what will our amphibious overlords talk about in the July monthly report.

I don't think a huge change in game performance will be noticeable. Most changes don't directly concern fortress mode, but, depending on when history is simulated, the changing of seasons/years will probably be slower. That said, this update also brings rewrites to old parts of the code that weren't fit for his purposes anymore. (Which probably translates into improvements, assuming that Toady's coding skill goes up with time)
Don't worry, skills can go over Legendary Codedwarf+1 even higher with time. Toady's probably between +5 and +10 by now, one can only wonder how big his skill gain be in the next ten or so years. Sadly, he's the only one working on it, so there's no one else to have the code menacing with spikes of bugfixes and adorned with optimizations, which means a lot of his time is also invested on raising the codefixerdwarf and optimidwarf (Optimus Dwarf? Urist Prime?) skillsets, making the entire process slower.

Hanging sacks of fat don't give you much perspective. I'd be a decent swordfighter possibly though, due to an above average kinesthetic sense and agility, if I started working out.

That, or singing songs.

... Very soon.

That's the prank - that there is none.

I'd dough out some cash, but in the backwoods country that I live in using PayPal is like summoning demons via necronomicon - you can't find a necronomicon anywhere around.

....I think you oughta change this thread's title, the current one doesn't seem to bring too much PUBLIC INTEREST.

Try something more ELITE LIBERAL.
