DFhack, the dfreveal tool. Be warned, your FPS will plummet to zero. And the HFS will be released.
Unless you do the thing that reverts everything back to normal before unpausing the game.

Well that was fun.

Ungf. Sadness. I don't understand. I ne-never cry so why? :'( :'( :'(
Confound these ponies, they drive me to having emotions.

And because I don't want to imagespan without reason: other pony things that made you cry? I seem to find it strangely cathartic. Feels good to feel.

Well, I definitely can't with my only worthy adventurers having bit the dust.

I also can't think of anything that is simultaneously measurable and constant regardless of modding. Hmm...
Taking down the target with the most kills of it's own, that must be sentient itself (able to have gained experience from those kills.) Modified by how overall impressive it was. (Killing a past adventurer who slew 600 men is impressive, unless it was a cheap headshot or other such boringness on your part.)
I like this idea, but it takes a lot of time to setup. It's a decent metric of how powerfull an enemy is though.

Taking one adventurer and gathering a dozen companions and making them all enemies of a neighboring civ by attacking it, somehow losing those companions in a location (fast travelling while in a town after sleeping, while they're still asleep), and doing it again with new companions until a good number of people are hostile to that civ, then coming back as an adventurer from that civ and generating companions hostile to the first, then going to attack the town your original adventurer and his companions retired in to start a fight, would be very impressive. Can't really gauge it though.
This is actually really cool idea, again though, quite a bit of setup. I'm not sure whether people would be willing to make that kind of time commitment. Wait, what am I saying, these are dwarf fortress players of course they would.
Only problem I can really find with this one is that it might just end up being you going from hut to hut killing people. I'm not sure how we could get a huge battle going. Do people leave their homes to help if there's a fight? I'm definitely saving this idea for when I figure out how to make it really shine.
Anyway, for next week, the most AM-appropriate challenge that I can think of is to get the most adventurers killed by a single creature, preferably a suitably unimpressive one.

I mean, seriously. "Spiceballs the Fortress is a day's walk to the southeast. Go there and kill Murderpants the Howl of Boots the horse. This creature has killed twelve in its lust for blood!"
I'm going to stop you right there. Do you realise just how dangerous horses are? :'(
But I'ma let you finish.
I admit, I'm pretty much ripping this idea from some other thread wherein a named duck was mentioned as killing something like three different adventurers, and claiming a lair at some point.
That's hilarious! Seems like a fluke though, how long before you just counterstrike and oneshot whatever it is? Losing is Fun though. Hmmm.

Allright think I'll go with Eric Blank's first idea. Sort of.

Tomorrow's the big day folks, new week, new challenge. I need ideas! I'm sure I can think of something, but it would be nice to have a backlog. Guess that means that you guys have maybe twelve hours to outdo Logrin. (Seriously that was awesome. Only thing more badass would be doing the same with a hydra.)

That... that brings a tear to my eye. Beautiful work good sir.

Pegasi are also faster miners because of their move speed. I found that starting with two miners of equal skill where one is a pegasus and the other an earth pony, the pegasus would gain skill much more quickly. Which doesn't make sense.
Re: Combat
Maybe earth ponies should be given tougher bones and more body mass seeing as they don't need to fly?

Updated the OP with this weeks challenge. Looking forward to hearing your guys' experiences.

Finally caught up, guess I'd better drink my own piss start from the beginning again, paying closer attention to the background stuff.
...
What has happened to me?

Indeed, unarmed melee is fun, but dual-wielding shields is both badass and fairly effective. Too bad it doesn't fit this challenge, though. Perhaps next week's could be "no normal weapons." As in, unarmed or misc. object user only, whatever armor desired, and go for the most impressive kill.
I approve of this message.

I think I'll attempt this challenge, but I should also like to nominate Igfig for an outstanding Roc kill with an adventurer wearing only multi-layered clothing. (although that may not count...) She was only hit, and brutally murdered by a yak, AFTER the encounter, anyway.

:o I enjoyed that, it's those kinds of things that make this game interesting. I'd say that counts as a perfect example of what we should be going for, a little more focus on being fast and carefull.

I'm going for the underworld! Yes, I know I'm insane. No, I am incapable of regretting such decisions in a video game.
Is it perchance legal to utilize any forms of armor prior to your moment(s) of glory, as training and to ensure survival? Or does my already-impressive dual-shielding wench need to retire for a while?
Whatever floats your boat. It's just something to add a little more "fun" to everyday adventurer mode. :)

Despite my intention to beat a night creature to death with my bare hands, it was just taking too dang long to do so (Professional Striker, my eye... maybe if I'd gone with kicking instead...). Shattered every single one of its bones, bruised all the internal organs, ripped off a body part or two, got it to the point where all it could do was try and nudge me to death, but I just couldn't quite pull of that last headshot. Ended up having to finish it off by stabbing it in the face with a copper arrow. For shame. Although, I was only wearing a loincloth and a toga at the time, and that was only really to preserve my dignity than to provide any actual protection. So, that's something.

Anyway, I doubt a night creature even counts, but I just thought I'd share. For the would-be beast-wrangler, striking is a very poor career choice. Although sending arms flying by scratching someone is pretty badass, when it happens.
Bro, bro, Weapons are fiiiine. Just no armour or shields.

do I have to be a peasant or are demigod/hero starts okay too?
I would suggest demigod, but you'd be more badass if you started as a peasant.

Week three: Changing things up a titch, gonna post several smaller challenges, do some, all, or none of them.
1) Climb a mountain, get to one of the peak things, post a screenshot. GO!
2) Explore a cavern, try and grab a SPOILER if you can. Screenshottage.
3) Explore an old fort. Preferably one from someone else. Get lost in it's depths, look at engravings and try to figure out what happened. Tell it's story, as you can piece together, here.
4) Only equipment you can wear is that taken from the corpses of those you have killed directly.
5) Only throw things. No wrestling, no punching, or kicking, and no biting.
6) Only do aimed shots directed at the throat. Be surprised at how devestating it is.
7) Anytime you see a bag, you need to grab it and put it in your backpack.
8) Use arrows the way they were meant to be used, with a bow.
Have Fun.
