I adore these sandboxy creativity games, and I've been having loads of fun with Terraria so far. I've played a fair bit, got the basics down, and found a nice handful of goodies (so many clouds in bottles i could control the weather, geez), but have yet to come even close to finding all the cool areas to explore or discovering all the secrets or finding all the special items.
One thing I'm hoping for in the future is a big expansion to the NPCs, both specialized and generic. I didn't know about the 'town building' aspect going in, and I find it all kinds of fun. I'd like to be able to build bigger towns and towers and maybe even getting to do mayorly things to it.

I know I rarely post at these forums (who is this guy anyway) but I'd love to play with y'all some time :D

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?

Just now started a 0.31.19 fort so that I could play around with all the new features. I'm already excited at the prospects.
We embarked on a mostly featureless snowy plain that promises a metal and flux, though with plenty of iron from the mountainhomes. I started laying out some rooms and hallways, getting started in one corner on a space that will eventually be a farm. I had my crafter crank out a few nest boxes for the geese I brought along. As soon as the first one was placed, a duck that had just appeared on site claimed it, waddled over, and unloaded a dozen eggs. The bad news was that this nest box was right near the entrance into the farm, and the duck would spazz out whenever anydwarf got too close. A miner was trying to get in to finish carving the room out, and the duck made a valiant stand until said miner got fed up and hacked the thing's leg off with his pick, killing it instantly.

Sometimes it's the little things in life that make living all the better.

Anilrimtar, Glorycastles. First .18 fort, first fort in a good while, too.
Deciding to bring a handful of cages with me on embark payed off big time, as I managed to capture an entire herd of elephants - 4 males and 3 females - before Autumn. Trying some new fortress designs to keep things interesting; this one is less sprawling, with a square-shaped main hallway about midway up a mountain. Was a little lax in my duties and as yet all the workshops are still outside, but my miners found an enormous gold vein when digging out the farms. I am beginning to wish that you could equip tamed creatures with various articles of clothing or jewelry, because I really want gold encrusted elephants.

I always thought the A tile was representing a sawhorse seen head-on.
I'm not really sure what use a sawhorse would have in processing plants or milking cows, but there you go. :v

The textured gray font looks much better. Awesome, in fact!

The water is pretty great too. I love the swirly tiles. Having depth shown visually is also pretty wonderful.

Gotta give some love to this graphics set. You guys are cranking out some really spectacular stuff! You've convinced me to go back to using graphics for sure. x3
I've got a new fortress design in mind, and now I'm certain I have to embark somewhere with elephants.

There's so much to Dwarf Fortress that I tend to stay away from mods, but I was intrigued enough to give this one a try a few releases ago, and it was absolutely great. It's a perfect theme to add to the game, and one of the best parts was discovering that I changed my architectural style when playing this over DF - my Vaults would try to resemble those in the Fallout games - a big vault door (though this I made three tiles wide with microcline, gold, and microcline to make it all vaultsuity) leading to the "Giant Lock" from Fallout 3 which admittedly was just the trade depot. Lots of corridors, a couple sets of long dormitories replacing actual apartments, lots of little nooks to stick computer terminals in.
Anyway, I had actually tried my hand at making my own tileset for this - I've done a little bit of spriting in the past so I'm not awful, but I'm certainly not that skilled, either. I just couldn't resist having a bunch of little Vault Boy faces running around. I've since lost it by accidentally deleting my Wasteland folder instead of moving it around when I was doing some organizing, though I still do have the template I was doing the initial work in. The bed and nuka-cola caps are pretty gross, and the Power Helmet military icon isn't much better, but I am rather proud of the Vault Face, so because I can,

Keep up the good work!
