EA is currently the best shot you have to get a good sequel going.

Surely you can't be serious. EA? The company that makes 90% of what they touch either turn to shit or fall apart?

EA, the only big company remotely interested in the IP. Do you think you can do better?

Btw, EA has the 5th best Metacritic average overall. http://www.metacritic.com/feature/game-publisher-rankings-for-2010-releases

Well part of the problem is if a bad sequel is made, it makes a good sequel less likely.

If it's bad but sells, they if they make one they'll just make another sequel with more bad.
If it's bad and doesn't sell, publishers won't touch it so they won't make another sequel.

(flaming removed) And if you are waiting for some no-name compay to produce something amazing, that's like hoping to win the lottery. The chance that an indie game produces something astonishing is way lower than the chance that EA ( or the studio they pay to make it happen ) produces something good.

You can make statements like your 3 if there is a long line of devs waiting to produce the same IP. A bad start may block the entire series. But in this case the IP is already dead. You either get EA to electrocute it the last time to play Dr. Frankenstein, or you get squat just like you had 'till now. And if it really turns out to be a shit game, well, you always have the good old necrophilia: play the original. It's not like you are forced to buy the new version.

I don't understand what there is to get upset about. It has been 15 years. I had no expectation of ever seeing an Alpha Centauri again. If we get something bad, we will have lost nothing. If we get something good, at least there's that.

Well say you loved your grand father and you loved him and he died, then 15 year later sopmkebody start talking shit about him you would be upset? thats the same with some player, like myself, some old game are considered classic and we love these game, and remaking a shit game based on that is the same as attacking our dead grandfather memory its just inaceptable.

Ok some say hey man its just a game i say screw you your not gamer go back to crap of duty 76 and have fun.

That has to be one of the worst analogies ever....

Huh? Why are you saying this to me? I don't have any worries about performance so far really, the only worry is that my connection will be too slow to play it online.  Like I said, I'm not getting OA because I can't just throw down 40 dollars for a game right now.

Just as a FWIW, Combined Ops is 24€ on Steam.

'Sup, I'll use this thread too :D

I'm normally a very computer savy person and manage to fix even the most annoying bugs, but today I just can't wrap my head around it.

Here is the current status quo: I just opened MSN and Windows Live Mail and here is what presented itself to me. EVERYTHING ELSE works fine. Just these two windows are all washed up. Maybe something with the AERO stuff went haywire? Also note how in pic two the tool bar is perfectly fine...

The incredible thing is that when I mouse over something, the effect goes slightly away and then slowly comes back. I have really no idea what's going on.

EDIT: Installed both again, nothing changes; updated AMD catalyst video drivers to 11.8, still nothing.

It looks to me like Windows is failing to completely load the programs.  You've already re-installed the programs and updated video drivers.  I'm assuming you rebooted the machine a half dozen times doing the above.  I'm also going to assume you've installed the correct graphics drivers.  You might want to check that one, though.

Since you seem to have been doing things right, I'm going to suggest you disable Aero for a moment and then try the programs.  To do this, go to Control Panel / Personalization and scroll down the list to basic themes.  Select one of those (which don't use Aero) and try the programs.  Let us know if that fixes things.

I finally figured it out. Apprarently the morphological filtering ( or how it's called ) option in the ATI Catalyst has this side-effect. Disabling it fixed it.

Pure luck in disabling that btw...

I could have sworn that potions used to stack; is this a new bug or just madness on my part? Healing, Mana.. etc.

I can confirm they used to stack...

I drew this and now I realized I have a problem with drawing the main guy's hair. It looks like spaghetti.

Make the hair of a single solid color and then touch it up on photoshop. Make the highlights with a brush with low hardness, medium flow and opacity. Modify the way it blends in.

Takes 4 minutes tops and it looks really good.

From the blog:

Paid DLC is *very* unlikely. It would need to be a very, very significant addition for us to consider it. We want to keep adding unpaid content to the game for quite a while, as it seems there are lots of people who will enjoy it =)
