The game does NOT autosave.

I meant to say I should have saved and quit after I hit land... sorry for the confusion. fixed it.  :P

And I didn't save and quit as soon as I made it to land like I should have. HOURS of holding down a key and enduring deep ocean lag were slain today... tempted to drown now just to end my suffering.  ::)

Granted. you are now standing on a smouldering pit of charcoals. the experience is quite unpleasant but the only thing that really gets burned are your legs. perhaps next time you should be on grass or dirt.

I wish I was eternally 23.
