Okay, coming back to dwarf fortress after a loooooong hiatus, I saw this and it looks COOL. But how in the land of monkeys am I supposed to install this?  I even got the new Lazy Newb Pack and installed it into the graphics folder there and get nothing.


Any ideas? I know I am probably missing something super simple but I am not sure what it is.

Okay, so I started making a custom map using Photoshop to make a bitmap and there has to be a way to make a bmp into a DF map.. but trying to use the DF map compressor  http://mkv25.net/dfma/ isn't working for some reason... 

Anyone have any tips for a newb?

Hey hey all,

Been playing DF for a week or so now and I want to start tinkering with it!

Things it would awesome to try and make... A custom Tileset. Since it would be a lot of fun to try my hand at pixel art.

Custom map.. while I am pretty sure it would be imposable to custom make every tile (I wouldn't even want to try) but I'd like to make a DF map based on parts of my old D&D world.

Any ideas to help me get started? Well, besides showing me the door :D

Ah thanks.. I had to switch to a different tileset.. in Mayday, I can see which town (only one in the entire human 'country' has shops) I had to travel too. Thanks much :)

Just getting back into DF, I thought I'd try my hand at adventuring more for the first time ever...

So, I just beat up a groundhog  and butchered it and walked back to town to sell stuff... and can't find a shop!

I have crossed the human country back and forth hitting the capital, villages, Hamlets, castles... the works... I can find NO ONE to sell stuff to.

What am I missing? How do I find a shop? I hope in future versions in teh game you will be able to ask towns folk where the nearest store is :(
