DF Modding / Re: Dwarf Fortress Advanced [graphical: 0.5.0, ASCII: 0.5.4]

This has caught my interest, I'll give it a shot and see how it compares to Forlorn Realms

So I've found my fortress getting heavily overflowing with various technology slabs from putting documentation on repeat, which I need to do in order to get rid of all records I get from autopsies, mechanical sparing, and medical dummy training.  Could there be a way to say, add hastily scrawled weapon designs to an already existing Weapons concept laboratory in order to make production at the workshop a tad faster?  I know there's the trash compactor but I can't get over the thought that I'm destroying !!SCIENCE!! Though I would possibly be willing to sacrifice !!SCIENCE!! to the blood god.  Just a thought I've been tossing around.  Could there also possibly be a technological advance that would give you a trap that voidwalkers would trigger?

So someone was nice enough to make a drawing of the engraving in this story.

The link to his Tumblr is http://lcom.tumblr.com/ and he takes requests for Dwarf Fortress drawings.

Maybe your baron is busy? Conduct Meeting is not a high priority job. If they can path to your baron, and he is not doing anything, then it may be a bug, although probably not from the mod. I don't have this problem.

Drop the roof on the meowkin and her kids if they are an eye sore, or install upright spikes around the area to stab her and her kids to death.
Or rather than risk dwarf lives, just order your military to kill 'em

Haha, both of you immediately think of killing them, such a dwarf response.  I was more hoping that the children would become citizens of my fortress.  Plus they're not eating my food so it's all good.  And yes, I've got my mayor doing absolutely nothing and still no luck.  I have considered whether making the meeting hall in the mayor office to see if that works.

So I'm not sure if this is a bug or me being incompitent, but I've got liaisons loitering around in my meeting hall and never having any conversations with my baron, mayor or manager.  If it is a bug I'm not sure if it's DF or this mod.  I wanted to raise awareness to this, but I also wanted to tell you how entertained I was when the Meowkin liaison farted out two kittens in my dining hall.

love what you're doing, I'd just like to maybe ask if you could edit your first post to have something of a guide/wiki in case we forget which metals/bones do what, etc.

Dear Urist McChild,
When I send out the order to deconstruct the bridge that you seem to have taken a liking to, no matter how much you stand on in out of protest, it will not stop it's removal.  But the most staggeringly dumb thing you did was not protesting the removal of a bridge by standing on it, but allowing yourself to fall ten stories below after the bridge was removed from under your feet.  You survived, for that I give you props, but seriously you have the kind of intelligence that could make you a noble, if you survive that long. And you won't if I have anything to say about it.
You're benevolent hivemind overlord

This post is primarily so I can be updated by any new developments with this mod.  I love the idea and I'm trying it out as we speak.

I'm taking advantage of the winter freeze to start work on my damming project.
Sounds pretty dwarf, but I don't feel it is truly dwarfy until you line it with water wheels and create Hoover Dwarf Dam and use it to power some completely useless mega project, maybe make a Dwarf Vegas.

A little late to respond, but here's your suggestions posted.

Urist McHauler: Urist McCaruso! The mayor mandated the creation of 50 toy boats last year, and a craftsdwarf just got beaten to death!

Urist McCaruso: Well, you know...

I would love to hear any other ones you can come up with.  I'll be making more and if I like one you say then I'll make that too.  Also if anyone would like the template to do it themselves then I'd be more than willing to post that.
Basically this is a thread for all Dwarf Fortress related CSI jokes.

Not exactly my best work but I really wanted to make sure I got it out the same day as the update.
I'm not sure if people will get the references in this last post, maybe I'm just over thinking things, but either way, here's what I'm imitating

I'm having fun with the update and put in a next box just for the heck of it.  I didn't pay it much attention but somehow a turkey hen found its way into my fortress and settled itself into the nest box.  Promptly it laid TWELVE eggs which made the citizens of my fortress promptly think "MUST HAVE."

Now bare in mind, this isn't your domesticated turkey that is so dumb it drowns when it rains from looking up at the falling rain with its mouth open, this is a wild turkey.  These are the turkeys that Ben Franklin wanted as the symbol for America instead of the bald eagle.  Wild turkey are freaking tough as nails!  So it totally made sense that as soon as the wild turkey hen charged my dwarves that they ran back to the sweet comfort of rum in the meeting hall to make them forget of such a traumatic experience.

I hatched a plan to contain this raging beast of a bird.  It wouldn't go any further than two diagonal squares away from its nest, so I had my brave mechanic venture to build a cage trap on the border of this turkey's well defended territory.  Needless to say he ran from the bird's advance multiple times, but through diligence he eventually built the cage trap and through further strength of will he was able to mount the cage in the trap and the turkey hen was caught.  She was a worthy adversary and shall be respected through being tamed and spared from the butcher's block as long as she lives.  May my dwarves gain her strength through the nourishment of her eggs.
