Anyway, these tools should come in handy for modding a lot of raw files simultaneously. Or even just to search and replace a lot of stuff in a single file. But there is the matter of learning to use it (and, in the case of using regular expressions, learning the expressions).

ya know notepad++ supports regex and has a find (and replace) in files feature

and on another note it would appear i cannot use "[NATURAL_SKILL:MINING:15]" to start with legendary miners in fortress mode or is there a workaround

try tweaking the "POPULATION_NUMBER" tag
e.x. for large roaches

or if you want to get rid of vermin altogether you could take out an organ in their raws or increase the "HOMEOTHERM" tag to something above the melting point of whatever they're made of

EDIT: or you could make the vermin useful and give them the tag
[ITEMCORPSE]
e.x.
[ITEMCORPSE:ROUGH:NO_SUBTYPE:INORGANIC:AMETHYST]

or give them the
"NOSMELLYROT" tag so theres no miasma when they rot

2. Yes, it affects combat skills. Bigger things tend to fight better.
3. No, but you can increase litter size.

thats what i thought oh well looks like the next hour or so will be spent preparing an embark with all legendary dwarves riding kittens the size of dragons *yawn*

3 questions

2. what does BODY_SIZE affect other than how much meat and fat you get after slaughter

3. is there a way to change how often an breeds or the gestation or something in that area

the main thought for the last two questions being dragon size cats with increased catsplossion potential
