I made a few more; I know I've doubled up on quite a lot of yours at this point Kohaku, this is not to be taken as an insult to yours. Mainly because I wanted flying birds, also, for fun. You've made some really bloody good ones that I might end up using instead of my own XD Seriously they are much softer and you have some very good animal likenesses

Well, in that case, would you mind telling me which ones she's going for, so that I can go for other animals?  I started on birds because I thought she was doing aquatic life.

If she wants to do birds, I can just go on to mammals or snakes or something.

I'm sorry but I don't really have a plan. I didn't start this as an effort to complete the 34. creature graphics set in any organised way. I'm actually still using 31. and I started by making animals that I wanted to see in the game, and am hitting the list of new animals in random places that I thought might be interesting.

You're free to use my animals wherever you may find them useful of course, but perhaps you'd best find someone else to partner with for an organised onslaught of the list because my haphazard efforts may not be easy for you to work around.

The creatures graphics Jet is referring to are going up here as I do them, I have only just started so I only have a handful done but I am happy for anyone to use them :)

(baby sunfish?) looks like a spiky ball
Very young ocean sunfish have a ring of spines that surround their bodies. If you say one straight-on, it wouldn't look like a spiky ball, but in profile, it would.

Yeah I am finding him hard to solve because they are so tiny and spiky. :C I may just end up doing a generic baby fish for all the fish.

JET; NO PRESSURE THEN, EH?

I intend to add a skeletal octopus too just for laughs

(Although... did we have green lobsters?)

Heh, the green lobsters were a request from my boyfreind who wanted to be able to have land-walking lobsters so that we'd see them more often. So we've been using those ones as "marsh lobsters".

Oh, and it's just a little odd to see a "skeleton" creature whose form is defined by its exoskeleton... :P

I know :C I thought it might be cool to include in the game because a skeletal crab would essentially be an exoskeleton floating around empty space. You kind of have to *imagine* that effect though because there was not enough space to draw it XD

Thankyou for your comments, I think it is apparent that teeny sprites is not what I'm accustomed to artwise. I might go back to the babies in the future next time I work on the file.

Here are some animals I made for my own use, feel free to have at.

So far it's got ocean sunfish, horseshoe crabs, crabs, octopi, tortoises, lobsters, kakapo, kestrel, magpie, crow, raven, kea, barn owl, snowy owl, cockatiel, cassowary, grey squirrel, red squirrel

They are transparent PNG so you can stick them on your BG texture of choice. I'll be doing some more, I'll throw them up here too as and when. I hope this is the right place to share these

Not sure about the anthro versions :/

Now, as to what is causing elves to be bringing me some kind of instaboil liquid (which has hurt a fair few of my elf killing squads) is vexing me...

I think I can see the conflict here...

Pfff he he :D

You cannot add new creatures to an already-existing fortress.

I know...?

Heh... sounds like incompatablility between raws and graphic sets...

So it may well be the result of my tinkering? Maybe I'd better ask in modding about it then.

My current fort seems to be having issues drawing the correct images. Several animals are using the wrong icons, and some of the dwarves are wearing the wrong outfits for their professions. The caravan was brought by a group of miners and their pack macaques, for example.

Ayone got any thoughts on what could cause this kind of problem?

I've been playing around with the animals, adding a few, so if it was just them I'd assume I borked it. But I'm not sure how that could have anything to do with the files for the dwarves, which I didn't touch.

It seems to be purely cosmetic; the fort is working fine otherwise.

Refusing their offer annoys them, and the more annoyed they are the more profit they want to make. So if you refuse their first offer, their price goes up. It's a bit silly really, because it means you can't haggle with them properly.

I've had this once or twice where I mistakenly didn't let them make a profit the first time and was presented with a totally unreasonable counteroffer. What I do is leave the trading session immediately and start over, possibly also giving them a small gift before trying the trading again with a higher profit for them.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dwarves trapped on walls

The key to this conundrum is the pet turkey. I've seen it with a fisherdwarf and a pet duck, posted a few days ago, someone said it was flying pets launching dwarfs onto the walls. And here you are with the same problem, and q pet turkey, so I'm guessing that is it. My fishing spot was right next to the wall, your mason was probably next to the wall. The pet can definitely fly onto the wall, I've seen that separately. Maybe when dwarf and pet are on the same tile and the pet decides to fly onto the wall, the dwarf goes with him.

That sounds very likely, actually. There's a bird pen just below, and now that I'm checking those walls for stray dwarves, I'm noticing that the birds are up there by themselves occasionally too. Sounds very plausible, thankyou!

I guess I'll just stick a couple more ramps in so they can get down without me checking.

Hm!

I didn't know that could happen. I thought I caught and memorialised everyone who drowned, but it's possible I missed someone. I'll look into it!

That's not what could have happened, unless the mason can stand on the upward side of a wall he's building and get raised up by it. It's only one level of wall and it's not connected to anything. Nobody was ever up there except these trapped guys who appeared there.

Yeah, the triangles are the ramps. But up untill people started getting trapped up there, there had never been ramp access. It's only one level of wall, so there was no need.
