There hasn't been any recent posts on your blog, but in one of your posts you wrote that you don't have much time left for programming.

I hope some day you find the time and enthusiasm again to polish this up a bit (with some of the recommendations in this thread). This looks cool and should really help with modding creatures, which can otherwise be a daunting task.
I'm waiting for the next release of Dwarf Fortress because there are a lot of new creatures so i think i'm going to work on that version.

DF Modding / Question about weapons and materials.
« on: April 28, 2011, 05:00:51 am »
Which is the best way to make a weapon stronger than the others? Shall i create a new weapon or add a new material? I've tried to add a new material, but i don't know what to change to make the material harder.

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO CREATE A MOD, BUT YOU SUCK AT CODING?

Now there is a solution!
You can ask me to create it for you, following two simple rules:
  • Dont' ask me to create huge mods; only small modifications
  • Search on the forum before asking me to create a mod; maybe it exists already

How to contact me:
  • By using this thread.
  • By using a pm.

I'm going to post all my mini-mods in this topic. Requests are appreciated.

1. The Easter Egg
This works like a plant and can be found in the bushes of any biome. You can also make eggnog and easter flour.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

2. Easter Bunny
A normal bunny edited to lay eggs.

4. 4 arms dwarves.
A new controllable race of 4 arms dwarves. They are a little bigger than the normal dwarves.

6. Draconis Material
This is a new metal. You can find it in very small quantities.

Just out of curiosity, what language and/or utilities did you use to write this?
I'm using Construct tool + Python
Is there any way to change the drink suffix? It's irritating seeing everything labled "beer"... I'd like to be able to define a few different types.
I'm going to add this in the next version. Thanks for the suggestion.

What I'd suggest, is select a line in the main box, and then just let the user double click the line he wants to add in the helper window.  That would be a lot more intuitive for most PC users.

What I might also suggest adding is mutually exclusive tags being selected from a drop down.

I.E. tissue layer types.

Thanks, for the suggestions! I'm going to work on these today.

I need a lot of help, so if you want to create a layout for the program, please post it on this forum so i can add it to the software. I don't have much time to work on layouts and i prefer to work a lot on the software.

CTRL+R and CTRL+I while on the helper screen does some very weird stuff on my computer.  Cycling randomly between items on the help menu screen, and adds something different than what I selected with the mouse.
Before pressing ctrl+key have you tried to select a line of the big boxtext in the main window?
I'm going to change the controls for the next release; any suggestion?
