Utilities and 3rd Party Applications / Re: DFHack 0.34.11 r2
« on: February 10, 2013, 08:34:55 pm »
Hello! I cannot run DFhack. I have installed it as the directions say, but every time I run DF, I get the message "Main index file missing/corrupted. The file "index" must be in the data folder. Make sure DF compressed into its folders properly". The problem is, it only does this when DFhack is installed. Index is in the data folder, and it is not corrupted.

DF Gameplay Questions / Insane vampire
« on: August 29, 2012, 11:08:04 am »
Okay, so, I found a Vampire. I locked him in a room, and he has survived around a year or so without food or drink, yadda yadda yadda. I found a second one, did the same.

I let the second one out so I could have him run to my drop off, and he promptly sucked a kid dry (I watched him do it). He fell down the 20 z-level drop chute, and exploded into parts, it was quite nice.

However. What do I do with the first vampire? He's running around babbling, and for about a season has been standing around in the meeting hall. Since he's insane, he won't try to eat or drink, and thus, he won't try to suck blood, right? So I could in theory just leave him?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Armor as clothing as far as happiness goes?
« on: August 09, 2012, 02:02:26 pm »
All (four) of my squads have the exact same armor settings (Bronze high boots, greaves, gauntlets, helms, breastplates, shields, and an axe/crossbow depending on squad).

Maybe they were just upset that I didn't have enough armor to count as clothing? I checked the squads and a few were missing shoes, or greaves, etc, so I've made some to see if that will remedy the problem.

DF Gameplay Questions / Armor as clothing as far as happiness goes?
« on: August 09, 2012, 12:04:57 pm »
Hi, silly question, but does armor count as clothing as far as a Dwarves happiness goes?

Example: Urist is sad because he does not have shoes on. Will him wearing Bronze High Boots count as shoes as far as his mood goes? Likewise, will Urist no long feel sad about being "uncovered" if he's wearing a Bronze Breastplate? Or does he need to wear a shirt underneath his breastplate? I ask because one of my military squads is perfectly fine with being naked under their armor, but one squad seems to be grumpy about it.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: stray gremlins (tame)
« on: August 08, 2012, 06:38:13 pm »
Gremlins have [CAN_LEARN], I believe. The wiki says that when they grow to be adults, they become Gremlin Hunters, and they'll go out and hunt game with a crossbow, then bring it back like Dwarven hunters do.

DF Gameplay Questions / Minecart question!
« on: August 03, 2012, 09:17:06 am »
Hello! I seem to have a problem with my minecart system!

I setup a small stockpile, and a small track, to take wood from outside the fort, and drop it into a hole that then goes down into my fort, and ends near the carpentry room.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to set it up so the Dwarves don't take the now dropped wood back to the stockpile. Short of micromanagement, that is. Any help? I don't think setting it to drop off at a stockpile would work (Can stockpiles do the quantum dump trick if they're all dropped onto a single stockpile?), as it drops down.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Weaponizing Ghosts.
« on: July 27, 2012, 11:43:09 am »
I don't know if this idea has been brought up before, so bare with me.

We've all seen a ghost punch a Dwarves head clean off, or tear all his limbs off, or tear his leg off and hit him with it.

Do ghosts attack invading Goblins, or traders, or thieves? Would it at all be possible to weaponize these violent ghosts?

DF Gameplay Questions / Partial Skeleton?
« on: July 24, 2012, 05:32:11 pm »
Hello! What do I do with partial skeletons? They aren't being moved to the refuse pile (Even though there is room), and whenever I use the butchers shop, in the [a]dd task menu, it says "Butcher a dead animal", but when I've added the task, it says "butcher an animal" and does nothing. Is there any way I can get bones from the partial skeletons, or should I just dump them in the lava pit?

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Problem with bins? (Seeds and ammo)

Alright, makes sense. Also, apparently, only half of my marksdwarf squad actually armed themselves with bolts. So yeah.

DF Gameplay Questions / Problem with bins? (Seeds and ammo)
« on: July 16, 2012, 09:16:57 pm »
Hello! See the title!

My marksdwarfs won't use ammo if it's in a bin. They are set to use metal bolts for combat, wooden bolts for training. However, they will take neither, ever. I suspect this has something to do with bins, because they used to happily chew through my bolts. But the moment I started making bins, they refused to. Because I make metal bolts (and war hammers) out of silver, and bins out of lead, the production of metal bolts and bins coincided.

Additionally, I keep getting job cancellations because the planter dwarfs cannot find seeds...Even though I have over 150 Plump Helmet seeds. As all my seeds are in bags (and NONE of the bags or seeds are forbidden), I suspect their being in a container has something to do with it. I have not run of of booze, and the fields keep getting planted, so I assume they eventually figure out how to open the seed bags, so yeah.

For the exact seed message: [Dwarf name], cancels plant seeds: Needs [seed type].

Can anyone help?

DF Gameplay Questions / Uninjured dwarves resting in hospital?
« on: April 03, 2011, 07:14:05 pm »
Hey. I have a hospital all set up, but the problem is, that I have about ten dwarves (Out of fifty) who are eternally resting in the beds, requiring other dwarves to feed them; However, none of these ten dwarves are wounded. At all. The only thing even wanting a diagnosis is a damn dog. De-constructing the beds knocks them out of their resting trance, and they go back to work, but it's only a temporary solution, as the other dwarves just come in and continue resting on them when I rebuild the beds. I have bedrooms, and about 2/3 of the dwarves have bedrooms (I checked, the resters have their own bedrooms). Obviously, I could just de-construct the hospital entirely, but that is a very dumb idea, yes?
