Last, but certainly not least we have the great Prince Nidokoenig who has led this expedition. He rules with an iron-hoof and will assure that his expedition succeeds no matter what and isn't afraid to whip those lazy ponies into shape. [Proficient Lasher, Competant Fighter, Adequate Dodger.

Hair loopies? :o Could have been worse, the description made me think of pig-tails. Also, amethyst lemon marmalade? Jeez, I've got expensive taste. I'm slightly freaked that naming the pony after me was decided beforehand and it just so happened to turn out pink and purple. And that the mental skills thing was both frighteningly accurate and almost all red.

Watching the new episode, does anyone now if the purple fish with the white and dark purple bands at around eleven and a half minutes in is an actual fish? Or should I just make up a name for it and include it?

Clearly your way with words makes other oblivious to your other shortcomings, you just creatively hide it.  :P

The fish looked like a purple colored clown-fish to me.

EDIT:

Run wildlife run! Shayua comes for your juicy flesh! Not even elephants are safe anymore

Also got my final migrant wave of 4, leaving a grand total of 18 ponies. I'm VERY pleased with this, as now the numbers will only increase through offspring.

According to Dwarf Therapist everyone is female except Dedwards... Yet I know that's not true since I've read the descriptions of the ponies. Very strange.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Also ugh.... So many migrants... I hate seeing my population double so quickly, and not having names for all of them also sucks, guess I'll just throw in some names from the shows cast.

I'm definitely in a terrifying land, yet I have not seen any undead? Is that a bug or do they not always spawn?
So far the scariest thing I've seen was a herd of elephants but they haven't come near the camp. Good thing for them though because Nido is taking names and has shattered the skulls of a Tigerpony and a Leopard and Shayua has already brought three dead hippos to feast upon!

EDIT:

Here's Vandala, we already had a Record Keeper taken by Pokon, but we needed a Manager and eagerly filled it. You, like Pokon, also will dabble in crafts when not giving out the production orders as we can't let that creativity go to waste! (Our other creative pony SiegeGeko has been churning out masterpiece furniture from his second bed he crafted!)

Well I decided to upgrade to an evil biome for my test game before I officially start, because I quite quickly tamed the Untamed Wilds with our Hunter Pony Nido who one his very first hunt took out a pack of 5 rhinos.....

However since this is a terrifying biome I decided to come adequately prepared.

So here is a lil teaser of the starting 7.

First we have Dedwards, our Axepony. He will be joining our starting militia, and will be in charge of felling trees when he's not training. [Proficient Axeman, Skilled Fighter, Novice Dodger, Dabbling Woodcutter]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next we have RexMundi, who has the important job of not only being our first miner but is the only pony who has learnt what money is and has been appointed broker. [Proficient Miner, Proficient Appraiser]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next we have Zarhon, our secondary miner who also occasionally designs a building or two. [Proficient Miner, Novice Building Designer]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next we have SiegeGeko, who has been dubbed sculptor and will be in charge of making furniture out of both wood and stone. [Proficient Carpenter, Proficient Mason]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next is Shayua, who is trained in the art of hunting and will lead his very own markspony squad one day. [Skilled Ambusher, Competent Crossbowman, Adequate Archer, Novice Dodger]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next is Pokon who has decided that he will not be apart of the savage brutes in the military and will act as both record keeper and part-time craftspony. [Proficient Record Keeper, Adequate Stone Crafter, Adequate Wood Crafter, Novice Bone Carver]
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Last, but certainly not least we have the great Prince Nidokoenig who has led this expedition. He rules with an iron-hoof and will assure that his expedition succeeds no matter what and isn't afraid to whip those lazy ponies into shape. [Proficient Lasher, Competant Fighter, Adequate Dodger.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Fortress Lenodeser (Seedglitters) will be one for the ages! The group Zesalmosh (The Branded Gleams) will make sure of it or die trying!

(if you want updates of some epic moments or whatnot let me know, this is only the test run to see how bad terrifying is when armed with ponies before I start recording the actual games footage.)

DarkGenesis, I'd love to be a royal(and in the game). They can take a while to pop up, I got two at once at 88 ponies in my current game, so go with a pegasus if there aren't any in those first two waves. One thing I always love when royals show up is imagining them introducing themselves:
"I am Kebul Fikodkodur, I am of excellent breeding, and a master of both cutting and crafting gemstones, and I have dabbled in carpentry. Where would you like me?"
"Report to the barracks, front line infantry, your highness. Maybe you can stick some nice, sharp gemstones on your ☼silver whip☼ when you're off duty."
After all, what else are you going to do with someone three times the size of everyone else?

I know that they are supposed to be rare but I swear I've embarked twice where I've started with 2 royals! And in my current test game that I'm quickly running through before I start (just to refresh myself, haven't played DF in like a month thanks to exams and then Skyrim) I've started out with 1 royal.

But yeah royals make absolute bad-asses, I had one going to town with her silver mace of justice!  :P (As a sidenote, never let said royal pony be the sheriff.....)

Will do Pokon, you'll most likely be a Unicorn then since they have the most non-combat jobs (that they get bonuses to learning rates anyway).

Awesome, more pony forts. Soon all of Bay12 will be ours!  8) Feel free to add me Dark.

Name: Zarhon
Preference: Pegagus/unicorn/earth

What kind of region will you go for btw? Normal, or !!fun!! ?

Was thinking of Savage Wilds. Last time I tried Haunted or Terrifying it did NOT end well at all! Undead elephants  :o :'(

I've been wanting to start a LP for awhile now, and now that I've finished my current semester at college now would be a perfect time.

I'll be playing the normal ponies, I may later play the rainbow ponies but for the moment I like dealing with the three normal castes as I know their strengths and weaknesses.

Population cap will be 0, thus giving a more personal experience with the ponies (expect between 18-25 ponies, unless the RNG hates me, from the non-optional migrant waves), I prefer small elite fortresses where I know everyone and have found myself often quitting a game because I get too many migrants.

I would love some names for my ponies, so please let me know if you'd like a pony. Also you can rank the three castes in order of preference (unicorn/pegasus/earth) and I will try my best to give you that pony, or at least your second choice, and obviously worst case scenario your last choice.
If I run out of names I will most likely just take names from this thread, but then you won't be getting the caste you'd like and the chance to give your pony a name different to your username.

Nido, I'd like you to be the first royal pony (unless you'd prefer otherwise), and any other royal ponies I get will be decided upon by me (if you don't want to be eligible to get a royal pony, just say so), I for some reason usually get an absurd amount of royals, hopefully this won't be the case this time.....

Thanks.

Ult1mara, could I bother you with a request to see my pony's description? :)

You are actually the only one who he has shown the description of so far.

(cut from episode 1 of his LP)

I don't want to be maintaining two sets of reactions and having to make sure both sets are working every time I add a new type of fruit.

I for one love the ent's, it makes the scene where Applejack was talking to Bloomburg seem sane. :P

I have a suggestion on the trees bearing fruit, but it's a length one so please bear with me.
...
...
Heck, if you're really into it you could even create your own 'apple bucking' (or perhaps just 'tree bucking' as a more general term, though apple bucking sure sounds better) skill/profession needed to harvest(work in workshop) them.

I see one major problem with this:
Press Q > Select "Tree" > Apple Buck > Press R > Infinite Food

The current "pet trees" at least are balanced by their shearings respawn (I think?)

For that matter, is it even possible to be at war with your own species (presumably in another civilization)?  I wouldn't mind being at war with other regular ponies.  I've never heard of this happening in vanilla DF, so I'm guessing that would be a no, due to the ethics being equal between the two.

You could just create copies of the pony civilization and just give them a different name for as many pony civilizations as you want. I believe this will work, I could be wrong, and it would give the illusion of being at war with your own race... Actually this sounds really fun. I might have to read the wiki again, need to find the token(s) to have a civilization start at war............. Hmm...

EDIT: I didn't even notice you already said presumably in another civilization  :o

Though a slop-together way of doing it would be to just copy the castes from "creature_pony" into "creature_pony_diomedes" because I assume its something in the "entity_pony_diomedes" that causes them to be at war.

Well, the diomedians are fine, and kind of needed. It's less adding stuff, and more contradicting what we've seen in the show.

Aren't you contradicting yourself with that statement? Cause clearly a pony with a tentacle horn, bat wings and a vampire bite, is a huge contradiction to the show? Heck just having this mod in Dwarf Fortress is a giant contradiction.

Also, there are way too many ent types as of the new release. I mean, I get having different fruit, but all the variations are just a pain.

Just revert to the old version then... Jeeze... Or if you don't like so much about it - make your own mod.

Nidokoenig has worked hard on this and basically you've said nothing good about the latest update. Instead of complaining: edit it yourself. I didn't agree with a few of the learning rates so I read the DF wiki and learned how to change them myself. It doesn't seem fair at all to get Nidokoenig to do all the work to fit your exact needs, you'd be better off learning how to do it yourself and then you can tailor it to fit your ideal world.

EDIT: After re-reading what I said I realized I may have been a bit harsh... but I know I'd be very upset to work hard on a mod and have all my hard work figuratively shat on.

The Lions Civilization is my main concern.

Really? Not the Cave ponies or the Diomedian ponies? I would think that they are much further deviations from the show than the fact that manticores are sentient instead of animal.

When I read that Griffons were being added I was extremely curious as to how Nidokoenig would get them to fit into the whole 3 caste. Then I saw the Lion Civ, raised an eyebrow curiously, read further and saw Manticores and Sphinxes and couldn't help but chuckle. I for one really like the 3 caste theme, I really like how it's being continued as it makes the races all seem balanced and in some way connected.

EDIT:

Yeah, you can mod them out if desired, but that's more trouble than a lot of people are willing to go through.  I for example don't know how (yet).  I think maybe I'll make that my first modding project (although I doubt I could be bothered to do what I mention above in any reasonable time frame).

Actually with how Nidokoenig has created the mod, I believe all you have to do is remove the respective "creature_pony_X", "entity_pony_X", "body_pony_X" textfiles. I might be wrong, but it's worth a shot!

Probably a little late to suggest this, because I think you've already started recording... But I suggest you install the mod over either the Phoebus prepack or Ironhand prepack. Either that or just install the mod into the Lazy Newb Pack and then apply one of the tilesets over it. ASCII is quite unattractive for a youtube LP in my opinion.

Yeah, Earth ponies don't really have any combat advantages. Maybe I'll make them learn blunt weapon skills a little faster.

A bit late to notice this but; Kicking at 200% rate. Look at all that apple bucking they do!  :P

I'm going to continue modding on the lions.

Are they supposed to be unable to mine?

I'm not sure about mining since I have yet to try out the lions, but that would be very odd, especially since the manticore have [SKILL_LEARN_RATE:MINING:130].

I did notice they seem to be lacking [TRANCES] like all the others, but that's easily fixed.
