DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Animals fighting in the pasture O_o

Ahhh it's a filter!  You learn something new every day, or in the case of DF, you learn about 20 new things every day lol

Looks like i'll be making a more-than-reasonable stack leather soon XD

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Funniest/most bad-ass fortress names

After coming back to the game after several years I'm taking my first fort slowly and carefully, who wouldn't want to preserve such an epic fortress as 'Greathalls of Muffins'

I thought it was cute that the puppies were scrapping, though I couldn't figure out why all 8 of them were crowding my stairwell.  Cute, until 3 of them died from infighting and one decided it'd be a great idea to go outside and try to eat a bull... I'm all for natural selection but losing half a litter wasn't what I was expecting lol.  Hopefully if they survive long enough to be trained they'll start to behave a little better and not attack the dwarf they're assigned to XD

My chicken has decided to get all antsy too, randomly pecking at dwarves as they go past, thankfully she couldn't hit anything if her life depended on it lol, my horses on the other hand are constantly bruising eachother.

Bit of a noob question though, would using [v]iew units and turning off [c]ombat stop animals being so aggressive?  Also do animal injuries such as cuts ever heal?  I'm kind of regretting keeping so many animals on my first "getting back into DF after several years" game.

DF General Discussion / Re: Lazy Newb Pack [0.31.25] [V9.1] Updates
« on: May 12, 2011, 01:11:38 am »
Just downloaded this and ESET security suite picked up several "trojans" in the DFhack directory.  Probably false positives but I couldn't find any mention of it here so I figured I'd let you guys know anyway.  It's not something I really have an interest in using so it's not a problem for me but it might be worth mentioning incase others find it and it puts people off from using the rest of the pack.

The files flagged up were: dfsuspend.exe, dfpause.exe, dflair.exe, dfflows.exe and dfexpbench.exe

Quirky idea, I like it!

I use my own hair as rope to this very day, 10 year old dreadlocks are good like that after a trim lol.  I think I'd feel a bit uncomfortable drinking my own milk though.... *shudder*

It's true what you say though, a self regulating population with nothing wasted is an efficient one  :D

Tilesets and Graphics / Re: Ironhand's Graphics Set (nothin' new)

In regards to the black font+black background.

Is there no way to revert to the original DF handling solely for that part?  It's a minor annoyance in itself but it affects a fair few screens so it's beginning to grate quite a bit.

A friend using the mayday pack has said his menus are all fine as well as it working properly in the base game so I'm thinking it's possible to negate its effects in this pack but I have no idea where to start looking to change it.

edit: nevermind, I found the truetype option in the init.txt and set it to NO instead.  Will be nice when it works properly but for now I'd rather see all my menus lol

edit 2: Think I've shot myself in the foot with that one, now I don't appear to be able to see the gender of animals :( anyone have any better ideas? lol

It's amazing to see what's been done with this game and community after a few years away.  Back then I barely struggled my way to self sufficiency before ultimately being overwhelmed by the world around me.  To come back and see this honestly makes me beyond happy.  Everything I had hoped to understand is now available in the most excellent wiki and now I see that some truly awesome people have developed, and continue to expand upon, a way to make those tricky time consuming parts of the game incredibly simple and efficient.  I've only been playing again for just over a week and I already know more than I did before and my ambitious dwarven enterprise looks more and more like a reality with each passing day.  I know this post adds very little in the way of discussion or constructive feedback but I hope it has conveyed at least a fraction of the gratitude I feel towards the continued development of this frankly awesome utility, as well as the most epic time sink ever created.  Thank you for making my gaming experience even more enjoyable!

Hey there, I've been away from DF for a few years and have recently started playing again.

This tileset caught my eye as it's very nicely done, however the last few comments about colour schemes have me worried I'm going to miss crucial details.  Is there a particular colour scheme that goes well with this pack or am I better off customising it myself?
