Both Meph and Mayhem have made very nice tilesets for DF, and they seem like the right people to consult and do the artwork.  While I look forward to their tileset I hope for you guys to put more effort in developing  a unified robust system for tileset creation.  Making it easier, for people like you, who want to make tilesets for DF.

So three hopes out of the steam release

#1 simple, documented, robust system for adding tilesets via workshop or elsewhere.

#2 Tileset selection in-game from main menu.

#3 Have the original ASCII graphics always available. It would be weird to have to mod back in acsii graphics for the steam version.

I am looking at my character's description, how do I learn more about the deity I worship?

Usually its in their somewhere (z key, d key).  Either it says straight up 'is a worshiper of Igs Oilgorge...' or it says 'unfocused from being unable to pray to Igs Oilgorge...'

Also if you go into quest menu (Q key) and then to people (p key) then somewhere in that list it will list your Diety and say 'you worship this figure.' Its not highlighted it just somewhere in the list.

I was asking more about like if my deity is of jewels, or fortresses or something, but thanks for the info

OK.  Get some bone, get a knife, carve a figurine. Choose a historical figure, (f key) filter, find your deity.  When you have your deity selected then the bottom of the screen will tell you about the deity before you carve.

Looking for a brief list of crafting labors that can be done in Adventure

From 'x' key I know you can Bone carve, butcher, write poems etc..
I see you can fell trees.

Can you tan hides? Leatherworking? Blacksmithing? Cooking? Make bolts or arrows?

What sort of crafting is possible? No need for big explanation just a brief list of whats possible (vanilla no mods).

still haven't figured out that schedule thing - i tried following the wiki guides and it just didn't work as intended.

As far as I can tell you have to setup the schedule AND you have to manually toggle the barracks. If you don't do both then it seems random what the dwarves actually do.  Which makes the whole schedule pointless as far as training goes, not sure about patrols etc..

If you have the schedule to train but a barracks isn't set for them to train at, then sometimes they train, sometimes they do labors/socialize etc...

If you have the barracks set for them to train but not the schedule then sometimes they train and sometimes they do labors/socialize etc...

But if you have both the barracks and the schedule set to train then they WILL be at the barracks training (except for running around eating and sleeping).

I also do the third step and remove all their labors while I want them to train, but I don't think its needed.

That is the best I can figure.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: May 25, 2019, 03:21:42 am »
My possessed dwarf would not move even if i spawned(adamantine cloth, adamantine wafers and steel leather (DFhack) ) and made (cow thread, adamantine wafers and cow leather) required materials for that artifact.
Is this a bug or something?

If you've already used DFHack to spawn in items then use DFHack 'showmood' to see what he wants.

Not sure about the food problems, but my current work strategy has been my most successful in terms of happiness.

I have 4 squads (more but 4 is good for example) Spring Squad,
Summer Squad, Autumn Squad, Winter Squad.

Each is scheduled for Training during the seasonal months, all other months set to inactive. They all are inactive = Uniformed.

Then each season rotate each squad through work duties.

Military Training
Labor (hauling, building, etc..)
Resource (Mining, Butchery, Wood Cutting etc...)
Crafting (Cooking, Carpentry, Mason, Weaving, metal etc..)

So a squad during its season is military, then next season is labor, next season is resource, etc...  I change their active labor skills through DT every season.

All the dorfs stay diversified, trained, and well socialized.  For those few that don't conform to this and insist on being unhappy, I have a reserve squad that I put them in and assign them specialized duty, which usually means they are a noble.

I've played a lot of DF but my current fort is about 1 season away from being my first generation fort.  I've never had a fort last 12+ years before.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Hermit challenge, how?
« on: May 21, 2019, 11:20:27 pm »

No, they won't until you either provoke them by raiding them, or pass a siege permission trigger. The only trigger enabled in the default raws is the pop one, and it's set at a pop of 80...

On my current fortress I have been keeping my pop low.  On year five I got sieged (said siege at top of screen) with a pop of 42.  13 goblin archers.   I had never sent out a mission or raid.

So maybe there is another trigger other than pop 80 or raiding.

As for this OLD topic would be fun to try a 'Caster's Keep' fortress.

DF Gameplay Questions / Soldiers and stockpiles?
« on: May 25, 2011, 02:56:58 am »
Unsure if this is a Bug or if I am doing something wrong.

However, it seems anytime a soldier interacts with a weapon/armor stockpile that he can get stuck with a (Cannot Follow Order) Job.

One test I did was to make a fort and embark with 7 training axes.

I create a squad from my 7 dwarfs and make a uniform this consist of a training axe.

When I tell them to Train in a barracks the do so.

However if I create a weapon stockpile the get stuck in (Cannot Follow Order) Job.  If I remove the stockpile they go back to training.

Is there a way around this?
