I would really like to know why there's always these warnings popping up whenever I choose one of the custom embark profiles that come with the pack.

We're still looking for visual artists and would really like to have as many DF aficionados involved to get as much of the DF feel into the end product.

Whatever you can do is good enough for me, people.

As for the music, it's all up in the air. Someone's contributed some fantasy electronica, located here, but this will be a process in which collaborators decide together, although mainly within their group.

We're starting to organize over at r/TheNeutralZone right now, but if you do not wish to make a Reddit account then you can still collaborate in this thread and I will move it on.

I'm trying to organize a free collaborative project with the aim of creating a Dwarf Fortress short story in text, audio, comic, and animation form, and am looking for visual and musical artists, voice actors/narrators, writers, audio engineers/sound designers, animators, editors, and whatever else we figure out we'll need along the way.

The first thing to do is to locate an acutal game to base the story on(No, not Boatmurdered), for which I will rely on the DF community to locate. Once that is accomplished the writing process will take place, assisted by voice actors to try hitting the length goal, while the visual musical artists come up with a style for the story. Once the script is finished the visual and audio/voice-acting/narration aspects become the primary focus, with the musical process continuing alongside. At this point everything will start to converge with the end result of producing, in order of priority, a short story, an audio story, a comic, and an animated story. Post-processing, combining the voice acting, music, audio engineering/sound design, and animation if that is accomplished, will then be the last step before the finished product.

The initial goal is to produce a short story and a 30 minute audio story, but this is obviously something we can scale up or down based on what we feel we can accomplish. As I have little experience with comics I don't know how that would translate into comic form, so I rely on those with that knowledge to accomplish this. I again have no experience with animation and am equally ignorant of the work required in that department, so input is needed here as well.

What is needed:
Management crew
Writers
Voice actors with access to good recording equipment
Musicians with access to good recording equipment
Sound designers with access to good recording equipment and/or sound libraries
Visual artists for the comic and animation
Audio and Video Editors with access to good editing tools
People who think they have a useful skill or just helpful input

The "base of operations" for the project is currently The Neutral Zone on Reddit.

Right now I'm intending to assist with the writing and video editing, which is what I have experience with, as well as taking care of the logistics of this thing and attempted management.

Have you figured it out yet?  ;D

6
Did you manage to find a neverending aquifer or something?  :P

7
Thanks for doing this, it's already one of the most enjoyable DF LPs I've seen. I hope the fortress survives for some time, at least.  ;D

8
Oh yes, tilesets please.

There are plenty of DF LPs on youtube, but they're all pretty much the same; find the most desirable location and build, build, build, or laden with tutorial information. What I have yet to see, though, is a difficult embark; cold/freezing weather, sparse vegetation, evil surroundings, maybe missing some important resources or containing an aquifer.

Is there a dwarf out there brave enough to accept this challenge?
