Shadow of Mordor is more Batman: Arkham-like. The dieing and coming back is the only really similar thing to Souls.

This game tho, looks like it could be a good mix of combat style's of both Souls and Arkham. More gameplay shall tell.

I was signing up for some website about 10 years ago now, and this is the first thing that popped into my head. After all this time, no one ever pronounces it right the first time.  :'(

I've been playing TW games since Medieval 2, and all I ever hear from 'veterans' is how the newer games are trash and Rome1 is superior.

I actually think the Warhammer TW's were some pretty great games, exploring CA's game design in a way they hadn't before. Warhammer 2 is actually the highest Rated of all the current TW's right now, sitting at 87%. So like with what I did with Warhammer, I won't be comparing ToB with other total wars. Cause its not just a total war, Its a saga, its trying to tell a story through real historical events. Everything in ToB is relatively historically accurate, down to kingdoms and kings. The unit selection is similar per faction, but thats because during that time period and in that conflict, armies used and wore the same equipment and weapons. When people play more of ToB, as well as when mods get all the tools needed to edit more of the game, then I think they will see how good of a game it is.

Back fan not the PSU unit's fan, I'm guessing, but a case one? (Assuming a desktop/whatever case rather than laptop.)

If a case fan, I'd first assume it's plugged into a mobo riser socket for case fans (maybe near the CPU-fan riser). Is this near the USB risers that connect to the various front/back case USB sockets? Have you knocked those, perhaps left awkward debris there?

Or you may have just unplugged front- and back-leading USB connector cables to the case sockets, during the fan change, and replugged them into back and front (different). Sometimes I've seen a a machine decide that a device it has worked with on one port decide it's a completely new device (if identical, but doesn't stop it looking/asking for drivers) when plugged in a different port, including when an intervening hub has taken out and directly plugged in and it's physically still connected to the case the same but without the logical separation of the hub.

(You say you moved what USB moved where, but if the case-front/back 'hubs' self-identify differently, then hub-front-slot 1 off the first of the two internal USB risers may look topologically different from either hub-back-slot-1 (or 2, 3, 4, etc) off the first internal riser or hub-front-slot 1 served by the second internal riser. Shouldn't matter, IMO, but I've seen similarly trivial changes do so, like a scanner that refused to work not on a particular external hub in turn plugged into a particular case USB slot on a machine.)

Mobos also can supply different versions of USB, so it used to be complaints about "try plugging this device in a USBv2.0 socket" when you plug it into a USBv1.x one (whether or not you even had a USBv2.0 one, annoyingly!), just from the response (one handshakes low-high voltages, the other high-low) on the otherwise identical wiring. These days it's likely not v1 vs v2, but V3 adds extra pins, and maybe if your USB3-enabled device is now being used in an effective 2.0 port, or maybe it had been and now you're giving it what it wanted through a v3 connection it lacked before, it's possible this gives the results you see.

A long-shot. After that I start wondering about other damage caused during the repair causing some strange problem that only confuses the driver, but I'm hoping it's just something regarding re-jiggling the comnectors if you can think back to what else you might have touched while swapping the fan out.

Could be something a quick glance from a techie guy would solve. Could be a totally unrelated minor system corruption that just happened to occur sometime around your replacement of thr fan.

1. It is a case fan, but its not plugged into a socket or anything. Its plugged into a 4 prong spot with the title SYS_FAN.
2. I only unplugged the fan from its original spot, nothing else was plugged in near it.
3. All usbs are v2. Ive plugged all things back to where they started, still nothing.
4. USB's could be loose, but ive tried pushing them back and jiggling with them to no avail.

Thanks for the advice tho, Ill keep checking and prodding at it till something works.

Life Advice / Very rare Computer problem???
« on: May 04, 2018, 08:32:45 am »
So, I've recently bought a new fan for my computer as the back one went out. After plugging it in, my USB connected items have started acting weird. At first it was all of them, but a computer restart fixed my headset and my mouse. All seemed well until i tried to talk on discord, when my comp yelled at me about my keyboard having "driver error". I looked online, found a bunch of things to try. I reinstalled drivers, I updated drivers, I uninstalled drivers, I restarted my PC. I even disconnected the fan to see if that messed with anything, and that didn't fix it. I've tried moving what USB was connected where. Nothing has worked. My keyboard is working right now, but if I try to watch a video, talk on discord or play a game, my keyboard stops working.

I'm out of options of what to do, and id really like to not have to take it into some place to get it checked. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to it.

It fixed itself? It works now, so i think I should be good

I've found that getting a Glock early on saves A TON of money and mags, as 17 shots is pretty beastly, and the accuracy isn't terrible on it.

PUBG is still a little buggy, but its gotten better since it 'fully released'  ::)

It's really fun, considering from what ive seen on magazines and such that 5 mil+ people are playing it at any given time. Ive seen only 2 hackers from my couple hundred hours of play. Devs might not be the best, but they made one hell of a game. Definitely buy it on humble bundle or some other site that has it discounted.

Since this is the latest total war, I'm just gonna voice my biggest complaint with the total war series as a whole here.

The prices of the past 6-7 years of total war games, is insane. Let me explain. Shogun 2:total war, without any dlc, is $30 base price; with dlc, $50. About what I expected for a 6, almost 7 year old game. Rome 2, a 4 year old game now, is still $60, without dlc. Add all the dlc, $145.90. <- That is insane. How about Attila? A 2, almost 3 year old game, $45 base price. huh. Cheaper than Rome. Add all dlc, $117.91. Not as insane, but still kind of insane. I can excuse Warhammer 1, since it is a newer game, and I'm not expecting a price drop at all for it. I could bring up the older games, but that's digging too deep. I expect all these games will be priced this way until they hit the 6/7 year mark, like shogun 2, which is kind of worrying.

I'm not asking that these prices be dropped to like $20 or anything, just i think that these older games and their prices should be looked at, and reevaluated. Maybe give us new bundles or have sales for the games more often.

Just finished a Very Hard Bretonnia run. With that, it means I've won a very hard (legendary with Greenskins) campaign with every race except Norsca (because I don't have them). Feelin' good.

That said, I don't think I'll play the brets again in a very long time. I just don't like their gameplay.

Total War: WARHAMMER

By any chance do you play with Radious? Cause I'm doing a very hard vamp. run and idk if radious makes it easier or harder.

Are the fans controlled by the acpi power management controller ( plugged into the motherboard) or are they hard wired off a power splitter?

If the former, this is normal.  Fans use power, and the system wants to not gobble it up needlessly. The acpi controller has temperature sensors in various places on the motherboard, and knows how hot the system is. If the system is very cool, it knows it doesn't need the fan on, so it slows it down, or even turns it off until it heats up in there.

If the latter, this is not normal.  Hard wired fans are hard wired. They know only two speeds: off, and full blast.  When the system is on, they will go full blast unless they have a short in the cabling. Check for loose connections, and see if that solves the issue.

The one in the middle is connected to the motherboard (the other two are hard wired), so im just gonna say its doing as you say. If it gets worse, I'll know otherwise.

If that doesn't work, you can test the fan by hooking it up to a battery and see if it spins freely.  Or, when it's stopped, try starting it (gently) with your finger, you can tell if it's "sticking" if it immediately starts spinning and keeps spinning.    If it's sticking, SOME fans can be oiled - look for an oil port under the sticker.   Ideally use sewing machine oil or "3 in 1" oil - just a drop.
Its not sticking, so it should be okay for now.

Thanks for the help guys. :D

So, I have 3 fans in my computer, which I got maybe 5-6 months ago. Its been running great, but now that the weather has gotten a little bit colder where I live, the inside fan has sort of malfunctioned. It will spin fast, then stop, spin fast, then stop, and it continues this process forever. The fan is clean, none of the wires it uses are hot or have any tears in them. It just started one day after I came home from work, while it was working fine in the morning. Idk if its just broken or if its a serious problem with my computer.  :-\

Has anyone played ACE Academy, or well, the 3 episodes that are out for it so far? I quite enjoyed myself surprisingly. I like the fact it's English voiced, and not just text. For once, the characters feel natural and not a forced trope of what's used in VN's/Animes. I don't know, but this might take my #1 spot instead of Clannad if it goes well. I just hope they can 'end' it nicely.
