Curses / Re: What would LCS be like if it was a game?
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:14:55 pm »
Saints Row the Third meets Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear meets Hitman meets Republic: The Revolution.

Saints Row the Third because GTA is not ridiculous and over-the-top enough to match LCS. Other than for being just a criminal sociopath rather than someone motivated by the Liberal cause, the Boss shares a lot in common with the Founder of the LCS.

Rogue Spear for the infiltration and operations in special sites

Hitman for the disguise system

Republic is a game with a similar premise to LCS, but unfortunately it had some development flaws.

Curses / Re: Suggestion: Implementing race in LCS

What does everyone think of adding a bit of SJW flair to LCS (in the L+ extreme)?

I believe there is no place for that in LCS simply because the Liberals are supposed to be the greatest thing ever in-game and SJW antics would paint their agenda in a negative light. If Elite Liberal laws involved ethnic revenge, reverse discrimination, mass censorship in the name of political correctness or reverse racism, it would break the mood of the game. Same reason Speech L+ implies total freedom of speech rather than political correctness gone mad. Plus this game was inspired by 1980s radical leftists who had the hearts to risk their lives for what they believed in(and they indeed gave their lives for it) rather than tumblr "Social Justice" Warriors using the Internet to complain about sexism in videogames when not lining up to buy the latest hipster product.

Internet SJW(whom Poe's Law applies in most cases) would only fit in a mirror version of LCS called "Western Civilization Defense Squad" or alike where the villains of LCS are instead painted as "Libertarian freedom fighters" and an Elite Liberal government is made into a ridiculous caricature as ecofascists who hate and discriminate every cisgendered Caucasian, sentence people to life sentences for saying anything politically incorrect, considers criticism of the government "hate crimes", let ethnic minorities get away with horrible crimes sentenced very lightly and want to destroy America through mass immigration and imposition of foreign cultures and religions in the name of diversity and multiculturalism, etc.

As for ethnicities and racism, Nightmare Mode should be Nightmare Mode, no punches spared, and LCS already is very politically incorrect in any case, but the upper classes of the C+ would refrain from using slurs too much simply because they don't fit with their etiquette, while the lower class C+ NPCs would throw one, particularly in combat. If playing with a LCS founder that is victim of such prejudice makes the early game more difficult and challenging, even better.

I find it funny some people feel uneasy about the ideas of ethnic groups or of C+ NPCs occasionally expressing openly their hatred for non-whites with offensive words in Nightmare Mode considering it also implies child slavery, sweatshop slaves who happen to be mostly illegal immigrants being worked to death while naked, Death Squads, CEOs having slaves they can treat as they see fit, total misogyny, gays being lynched by mobs with impunity, pollution being sold as food, and the CCS blowing up Hospitals, ACLU's office, etc. It is as funny as the usual types in tumbrl who demand censorship and whitewashing of discriminatory content shown in movies/etc about historical settings where discrimination was very real, almost like if they wanted to push for historical revisionism in INGSOC style. Just my 2 cents.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How do you design your bedrooms?

If there are multiple layers of soil, I prefer giving out very spacious rooms for everyone as soil is quite easy to dig through. I don't really have a standard bedroom design, I just go with whatever is most efficient regarding distance from bedroom to workplace or cheaper to designate, and sometimes aquifers may require creative redesigns and work-arounds.

Spent so much time focused on building a totally enclosed cistern that I forgot to give brew drink and planting orders, damning it to dehydration less than a year of existence. After this trainwreck I realized that making a water depot with more than 1 z-level of depth was a better way of not having the water supply plagued by mud, and that fully enclosed cisterns were only needed in biomes that lack fresh water. Of course I was also totally at a loss on what each ASCII symbol was supposed to mean, which contributed strongly to it.

Curses / What do you like listening to while playing LCS?
« on: September 28, 2011, 03:11:02 pm »
Love me, I'm a Liberal is the first music I think of when playing LCS. It just fits perfectly, and there is a sense of irony in how the lyrics portray the Liberals as weak trend-following weekend activists that in truth have made peace with the establishment and are ready to turn in people suggesting anything more serious, and how it contrasts with the game's radical Liberals ready to kill and break laws for the cause.

Although considering its source of inspiration, perhaps the Phil Ochs version is better to accompany it. I swap between both each time I play the game.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Face Palm moments you had

Breached the cool place too, except it was on purpose because I got bored of the fortress, yet somehow nothing happened, then because it sounded cool I built stairs to it in an attempt to build future rooms for the nobles of the fortress by walling off and flooring a ceiling over the walls right in the middle of the party. Then all of a sudden, while they were halfway through completing the construction in the cool place, surprise, surprise.
