Why I still insist on thinking, how magnificent magmacannon could be made from that Scruffy's monument.

... needs more brain bleach. Sorry.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: DF2014 Question and Answer Thread

My brain hurts, because of the stockpiles.

I want a small cloth and a small thread stockpile next to my hospital without bins (so I can see if I need to make more). Those two stockpiles are set to take from the another two cloth stockpiles from the crafting center where my loom and clothier are. But somehow my dwarfs are not hauling the thread and cloth in the hospital stockpiles.

Ideal situation is that crafting area stockpiles would give the loom and clothier all the stuff they need, so they would leave items in my hospital alone.

Is this possible? Or is the hospital autostocking fixed enough to trust to it?

Encountered a minor bug when I was toying with C4.

I ordered a C4 and hid it in my brown webbing vest attached on my jumpsuit by clicking the jumpsuit. First time it side it was arming the explosive but nothing happened. Second time I managed to blow away my jumpsuit (and got some minor bruises and fractures) with it attachment. The bug part was that all the items in the pocket and belt slots remained and they did not drop on the floor. I couldn't place new items on them, since I had no jumpsuit, but the old stuff was just magically hanging there.

Stupid noob questions:

1. I have found some items on the map that I can't pick up, even if they should be pickable (at least in my opinion). Who should I notify?

2. I tried to make irrigation system on the hydroponics, but I couldn't get them connected. I clicked the hydroponics next to each other with the screwdriver but I couldn't get any visual indication that I was successful and the water didn't spread. Is it disabled on the server or did I just do it wrong?

3. What's the policy of moving unique High-risk items? If I'm tasked to steal one of them and I can't find it on it's spawn, can I murder the possible suspect for a small chance to find it on his/her body?

An old shmup on PC, around 2008 or so. No scrolling, no enemies, just black holes that start to spew out the white orbs you can shoot. More the orbs you shoot, more (semi) random powerups you get. And nasty palette color shift that can you give a headache.

Oh I'm sorry.  Were we discussing ways to lightly injure and traumatize dwarves without actually killing them?  My, if only we had someone who was really good at-

*squints* Are... are you a sadist?

I think you misspelled "just a normal Dwarf Fortress player?"

Does anyone know where a guy can get a backpack? I'm an outsider and I need something to carry my loot.

Train some sneaking and ask locals about surroundings. They will point out where the bandit camps are. With luck, you can sneak in there and steal a backpack (or in pinch, just a bag) from the ground.

... or at least that's what I use to do when I play my outsiders.

If it really bothers you, build floors. Otherwise, enjoy the funky colours.

Is it possible to collect clay and sand through floors? The funky colours don't bother me: I want to be able to collect the clay and sand.

e:f,b

Noop. You need bare sand and clay to collect them, unfortunately.

Collect your clay and sand from digged stairs. Fungus doesn't grow on stairs.

Strand extractor... now we need to make a suggestion that it requires two dwarfs?

Do dwarves with splints eventually heal enough that they no longer need them? I have a dwarf with like 5 splints and I think it was stopping him from being able to train properly. I removed him from the military, but I'd like to add him again at some point !

When dwarf is healed enough, he removes the splint and drop it on the ground. Then someone will haul it back to stockpile (if available). How long the healing will take, Armok only knows.

Or collect clay/sand from the stairs, fungus does not grow on stairs.
