DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Coffins for pets? Come on
« on: November 24, 2011, 02:29:24 pm »
I turn off pets burial on coffins by default

look in d_init.txt and change
[COFFIN_NO_PETS_DEFAULT:NO]
to
[COFFIN_NO_PETS_DEFAULT:YES]

this way when ever you make a coffin a burial place, it will have the allow pets disabled for you.

Awesome, having a look around in the save before flooding the upper area.
Shame my dear dorf is dead, any idea how it happened?

One thing i noticed in the save: Necro911 is standing in a still, making precious alcohol, and he is sharing one square with 7 other ghosts, guess they are thirsty?

Had Gzoker make a stone slab for my sad ghost

This is a well crafted schist memorial to Sniken Logemlolok.
The slab reads: "In memory of Sniken Logemlolok / died 93 / Friend of sheep(...?)"

DF General Discussion / Re: THE KING HAS ARRIVED
« on: November 16, 2011, 11:09:40 am »
I've never had a monarch arrive before, but it may because my population cap is too low; I always set it to around 110-ish.
My forts tend to not last very longer than 5ish years or so, either.  If they're ultra successful, I move on to other pursuits.  If they are awful, they get obliterated one way or the other.
according to magmawiki you need 140 dwarves to get a king.
I've never made any roads in my forts, so I guess i'll try that and wait for the king.

Spoiler: Arrival conditions (click to show/hide)

Ladies and Gentledwarves; I give you...

You sir just won one small piece of the internet, it is so beautiful, yet so wrong. i cringe when i see how you spread the precious candy on the floors of hell.
Remember, for every adamantine armor and sword you make, you save noble and urist lifes

how about adding crude and dwarven style "take that clowns!!11!!one!one" under that?

I have problem which you where asked about in an earlier thread, the siege has not broken even though all invaders are dead.
unfortunatly i had all my caged gobbos and trolls decapitated in the arena in an attempt to break the siege so i can't test activating the invader flag on a tame goblin and release it.

i wonder if df hack in its current state has any means for messing with the siege flag in the game?

post i got tipped about my problem:

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your Fortress Anthem
« on: October 30, 2011, 06:37:14 am »
Dropkick Murphys - take em down
With dropkick Murphys you always get lyrics involving alcohol, which we all know is pretty dwarven, but this tune just has to be the best dwarf fortress anthem they ever made.
If you just choose to hear "when the (clown) bus comes callin'", it's even better.
But dwarf fortress players are known for their ☼Imagination☼, last part should not be a problem.

Read every post in this thread now, and there is so much legendary work I don't know where to start.

Hold your dwarven head low and proud aussie!

Testing out the checkers game now, first try they ran of through the pump stack. walled off and the two last game pieces are placing them self on the game board now :)

Any unnamed dwarfs doing slave work armoks will to make hell a cozy place?

Like other people says, give Lazy Newb Pack a try.

I Found DF a long time ago, tried it but could not understand it quite. forward a year or two and a friend asked me if I'd ever heard about this awesome and !!FUN!! game. when he pointed me to said newb pack, i was hooked!

Lazy Newb Pack is to DF what ubuntu is for new linux users
