I usually go 2-3 miners, 1 woodcutter. I hate sitting around waiting for spaces to be dug out.
And what is a catchall?

Magni Bronzebeards accents. All of them.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: How did you learn Dwarf Fortress?
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:31:26 pm »
Started off by hitting random keys, found out how to dig, tried to use (i) zones as (p) stockpiles.
Then I found out about tilesets. Mayday was, and still is, my favorite.
Then I found afteraction, that helped me out a lot.
Stayed like that for a long time, then found dwarf therapist. I use it sometimes, but I'd rather set jobs manually through (v)

Try digging a 5x5 room before you tap it. And instead of digging, try smoothing and carving a fortification into it.

Children can remove buildings
I accidentally 7 of my kids today when I designated a bunch of floor tiles over lava to be removed. Little suckers killed their friends by taking out all the tiles around them, causing cave-ins. It was very entertaining to watch!

Blighted gloom isn't doing anything to me. Gotta watch out for infernal ash, though...

I kinda like everything.
The mosquitos are pretty great too, surprisingly. Free crossbow training for my marksdwarves, and the giant pack ended up taking out a goblin siege that probably would have killed me fortress.
Haven't had any vampires yet at 102 dwarves. Only had one necro, which I caged and threw into a magma pipe. A child werewolf showed up and ran off before I could fight it.
Tried some evil embarks. First one, the tendrils killed my framerate. On my second one now, my only macedwarf died destroying some dead animals. Then infernal ash killed my woodcutter/carpenter. Walling myself in until migrants come.

Over 100 giant mosquitos are outside my fort.
I'd say 150+.
They... They keep coming...
EDIT:
OH NO THEY'RE ATTACKING

Hm, that's weird, it was at a half moon, iirc.
And do you have a link to the weaponization thread?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Dwarf child titan?
« on: February 15, 2012, 02:24:59 pm »
So I'm digging away at my fortress when a titan/FB message pops up. Apparently, a mighty dwarven child stumbled upon my fortress and was discovered by my guardcat.
Is it really a titan, or is it just the new vampire message, or what?
Also, do necromancers carry any equipment on them? Caught one today, not sure if I should have my military fight it or just toss it into the lava.

For those of you still looking for a tileset, Mayday has one out
-Loving the new version. Did a normal embark, no evil biome for me yet. Hunters got a tracking skill. Tons of new animals. Different packs of animals keep showing up on my map, then wandering off, which I think is pretty cool. The perigreene falcons are a bit annoying though.
-My first caravan got here, everything was cheap as hell. Steel helm for 400 dwarf bucks.
-Be careful when you tap magma. I just did it, and a ton of smoke spewed out and claimed the life of my immigrant novice miner with a copper pick. Nothing of value was lost. Now he's showing up as missing. Tried to write him a slap, can't do it yet.
-Looks like combat skills are training a lot faster.
-Sort of miss Dwarf Therapist, but I learned how to play DF without it for the first 9 months I played. I sort of like doing it manually anyways.
-Noticed toady brought the hammerer back. Pretty cool.
-Finally found the moon tracker, top right hand corner.
-Loving the new units page.

Thanks a ton man
