That is truly, amazingly awesome.
DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Shouldn't You be Able to Bridge Channels?
« on: September 22, 2006, 05:04:00 pm »Here's a screenshot. I thought the problem might have been that my moat needed water before it could be bridged, so I temperarily made it a pond. It made no difference.

Because before the Dungeon Master shows up you can't make any.

You can set pressure plates to be "temperary." I think that would have the bridge reset afterwards.

That would probably be smart, although I would use rock traps instead of cage traps, as you're cages can all fill up, but you'll always have spare rocks. Weapon traps are nice too, but potentially costly if you don't have a large armament.

It looks absolutely normal to me. The ground is white because of snow, and your river is frozen. This isn't unexpected if you started in spring, however.

I just did the same thing not an hour ago. I can't wait until cave-river freezing is implemented, or channel filling. Either one would have saved that fortress.

It tells you how to use your old saves in "release notes.txt". If you've been moving files around in different ways, they've probably become corrupted. Especially while this game is still in alpha, it's important to keep backups of your 'data/save' folder.</STRONG>
I did backup my save folder! I'll reinstall DF somewhere else, and see if that helps.
DF Gameplay Questions / Updated DF, Now Saved Game Won't Load
« on: September 04, 2006, 09:10:00 pm »Now, my fortress will still successfully load, but as soon as I hit a key, the game freezes.
Is there any way to recover my fortress, or atleast my region?
This game has otherwise been awesome, and has been eating all my time recently. Thanks for all the work that's you've already put into this.

That won't work since the clothes are still owned by someone.
I have this same problem in my own fort.

Some did have the eat task. None were on a chain, they were actually wandering around the jail. None had moods until they went nuts from starvation.
After they went crazy, they had no problems leaving the jail and walking around.
