Life Advice / Re: So, who wants to reccomend a mouse/headphone/mic?

I use those, they are great and have a unbeatable value. I don't have a link to it, but another company buys them, slaps a different label on them and sells them for 60 a piece. And I believe shipping is free. If you wanted a combo, it wouldn't work but you could try a clip on mic they work about as well. I have a Logitech G500 and love it, fits my hand perfectly but thats something that varies for everyone. And it has weights if you like a heavier feel. They have other decent ones too, mx518 I believe, and the Razer deathadder was nice when I had it but imo the logitech is better. It has very adjustable software and the DPI range is 5600 I think, swapable on the fly.

Alright, I used to think the same about myself. Maybe not in the same way, but I thought I was utterly hopeless and never gonna find any SO, or many friends for that matter. I was like that for years, eventually went to a therapist and then a psychiatrist. You may very well have a disorder or disease treatable with therapy and medication, or just therapy. And it involves more than just them, you have to put in a huge effort as well. If you don't exercise, start now. Doesn't have to be too much. If you have obsessive tendencies, you can see a doc about that. If you don't like how you look, change it! Go to a nice salon and ask them for advice. They will probably find something that can help you. If you have bad anxiety in new situations, just explain that to them. Something like Klonopin or Xanax might help you out a LOT. People might jump on me because those are considered abusable, and you can form a dependency on them, but if you manage it responsibly and use them to get yourself out of your comfort zone you gradually wont even need them anymore. I was a pretty much complete social failure in high school too, but I'm doing a lot better now, and I have plenty of stories and experience with how awkward things can feel at first and how to help. I didn't read the whole thread because I'm kinda busy but the title caught my eye and I wanna try and help you man. Feel free to PM me if you want any advice. You seem like a smart guy. Last word for now, fake it till you make it. If you pretend to have confidence itll come eventually.
One edit. Try to get to a psychiatrist at any cost, medication might not be a fix for everyone, but it can help you get out of a hole and you said earlier you didn't respond well to therapy. Be your own therapist. And don't turn to self medicating with street drugs or alcohol, even if it seems helpful at first it's a dead end sooner or later, thats just from my personal experience. Good luck man

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: tips , that will save your life!

Make sure to be well armored, bronze or iron. Copper is better than nothing but lots of enemies will slice right through it(and you). Take companions out to the river and drown them if you cant find any other armor laying around in a fort.

304. Always kill the bow wielders first. Always.

5
Make sure to find armor and keep as many companions as possible with you. They are also good for soaking up arrows. Don't underestimate any enemies. And train up any skills that you can, wrestling, swimming, knapping, etc they all boost your attributes as well and give you a better chance at surviving. And if you live long enough you will end up with god like skills and probably get bored lol.

Yeah I'd prefer a separate UI too. Can't wait till it gets updated.

Figured that was how it is. Oh well it'll be like waiting on GRRM to finish ASOIAF haha.

DF Suggestions / Re: Self Defense

It'd be neat to have one, and I think should be easier than the military to set up. Much simpler, maybe even include the basic gear for them with the embark. Might help new players fend off things like weak animals so they don't cause much trouble, but still be steamrolled by any real enemy as they'd just be civilians in clothes with a light weapon.

DF Suggestions / Re: Cults

Maybe but I think it'd be hard to implement properly. I think factions would work out better as they're more open and visible to the player. Factions could make demands, much like nobles but hopefully with a reward for helping them. Maybe they send for some of their skilled members from the mountainhomes or something like that.

Thousand I'm sure. It could be even more if Toady would let a small team of people who care about the game help him out with menial stuff, progress would come a lot faster and he would still have the final say so it would be under his total control in the end. I see so much potential in Dwarf Fortress if it was just opened up a little bit.

Just throwing the idea out there, maybe various wandering groups akin to caravans could show up from time to time offering random services or making demands? Kind of like in King of Dragon Pass haha.
