So... are there no real mobile colony sims?! Or am I just using the wrong search words in the Play store? I'd be alright with the most abysmal DF clone, really, just anything in the same genre I can play on my phone.

Seems bizarre that there are no such games available for Android...

Prison Architect is on android now. I haven't tried the mobile port.

Fallout shelter is a colony sim. But it is F2P with micro transactions.

Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadville is turn based and not really the same genre, but you are managing survivors in a colony, exploring, building. I never ended up sinking a lot of time into it, but it seemed okay.

Is there a limitation on the resurrect spell? I had a character die (killed by my own ranger who was under the influence of a spell) and I could not resurrect them. I made sure I had diamonds to cast the cleric spell. I went to a town bought scrolls, tried casting them from the dead character's inventory, also didn't work. Either I'm missing something or I've run into a bug. Which would be pretty disheartening considering this would be the third boss fight in a row where the game has broken and I've had to reload to a point before the fight.

I have not played the series before, so I'm a bit confused by the battles. Seems like you can export from FoG:E to FoGII. Are there no battles at all in the game, or are they just less involved than Field of Glory II?

Isn't the respec only for your only character, not the companion characters? They are the ones needing respec.

I just tried it and it seems like it isn't a full respec for your companions - it levels them down to around what level they would have been when you first met them.

I think it is also good to keep in mind that you can change difficulty on the fly - so if you've been bashing your head against the same encounter for a while it might be worthwhile to adjust the difficulty a notch lower. You can always switch it back after. I don't like doing it because it feels like giving up, but I might have to do that where I am at in my game right now. I don't usually carry rations and now I find myself somewhere with no spells, no way to rest and no way out. I've tried the same fight 3 times now but my MC keeps getting killed. But my last try was so close...

As far minmaxing goes, I think you're completely right and it's why I recommend everyone to use the respec mod which allows you to respec all your companions. It costs gold to do it, and you can't change base stats, but it allows you to have a better put together a party without mercs or aggressive min/maxing which actually fills the roles you need. Playing on normal difficulty this changed it from being wildly uneven to being challenging but fair for most encounters. Again, you shouldn't need to with a really well balanced game, but I think it's a small compromise.

Can't you respec already by talking to an NPC in the tavern (I think this might be toggleable in the difficulty settings) Or is this something different?

My only dislike is that pathfinder sometimes leaves you without stuff to do, and expects you to just play the kingdom game for a bit. I got confused about what I was supposed to be doing, and had to look up that I was basically supposed to just wait for the next big event to come along.

And to top it off I found the quests related to playing the kingdom game to be incredibly vague. They ask you to do a thing, without telling you how to do the thing. I had to do lots of googling.

So, I've been playing this again. I still find the voice acting and writing narmy (though TBH no narmier than BG2)

Yeah. I think fantasy RPGs just have lackluster writing in general.

I picked this up during the steam sale, and I've been having a lot of fun with it. It feels a bit "old school" in its design, in good ways (doesn't hold your hand, exploring is worthwhile and dangerous) and bad ways (if you don't know the d20 system well some things can feel pretty obtuse, and the inventory management is chore).

I'm looking for a multiplayer board game with async online. The one i'm considering is Through the Ages. Does anyone have any experience with it or other recommendations?

edit: Also Twilight Struggle, Agricola and Le Havre.

Through the Ages is great, it is my personal favourite digital board game. It has a lot of solo content in the form of challenges if you wanted to play offline as well.

A couple of other asyncronous games I'd recommend looking into are Lords of Waterdeep and Castles of Burgundy.

They won't do that, because age of DLC is not the determining factor in which DLCs people buy. There are many old ones that still sell well. And Paradox is a for profit company – and a publicly traded one, as of recently, which means that not only do they want money, but they have an obligation to their stockholders to ensure that they make as much as possible.

Giving more value in the base package doesn't necessarily mean they'd make less money. You can't sell DLC to people who don't make the purchase in the first place. Looking at a game with many years of DLC can be so off-putting for some that they won't buy it at all. Games like Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis make it very confusing for new players, if you visit forums or subreddits about them you'll see posts like "which dlc are essential" fairly often. I know I didn't buy Crusader Kings II because there was already so much DLC out that I didn't want to spend all that money on one game at one time. Also, going in without the DLC the community deemed essential didn't appeal to me. Eventually they had a sale that bundled all the DLC they had released up until the "Old Gods" for like 20 bucks. They've been taking my money ever since :P

The worst bug I ran into so far this patch was one where defending armies would gain strength instead of losing it when being attacked. I was rather surprised to see my stack of 4k troops wiped out by a 7k stack of defending armies that was only at 2k strength a few minutes before.

I just noticed it is a nanite world. I tried terraforming a non-nanite world and it works fine (3600, like you said).

The nanite world however says 360 for time but never ticks down. I'm sure I had a pop up earlier in the game that said I could terraform those worlds.

I am trying to terraform a planet, I clicked on the terraform button, clicked on the climate I want, and it is telling me it will take 360 days on the outliner. But this timer never ticks down. Am I missing a step? Or is the game just bugged?

I never got to the point where I 100% terraformed everything. I quit after I got my capital city up and running as that seemed like a good capstone to my run. It's too bad that they didn't do more to recognize it.

Another interesting problem I've been having is overpopulation. There seems to be no way to control population increase and after a certian point, the Martians breed like rabbits. Since they are MArtianborn, they don't leave either, so every dome ends up overpopulated. This is pretty stupid.

One of the options on a dome is to disallow births. I had to use that when I got the breakthrough tech that lets the elderly work and have children.

Glad I picked this up, it's pretty fun. I was interested when it released, but all of the tepid reviews warned me away. It feels like what I wanted city skylines to be - a relaxed city builder with enough gamey-ness to keep me interested
