Argh my works been removed from the wiki due to you complaining cretins, j/kin

But my work couldn't of been that incomprehensible?

But im curious how your designs work. In all the different setups I've done two reservoirs with a floodgate inbetween to keep the difference in waterlevel as high as possible and a wall to stop water flowing back and evening the pressure were the only ones the really worked. The others got interrupted power.

My 2x3 open designs and smallers channels all were impossible to keep balanced (the ones without a wall and floodgate).

I built 7 different ones, some much like yours and linked each one to a mill. The mill was used to test wheter they lost power at any time.
I set it up on repeat job and had enough farms that the mill never runs out of plants to work with.
If the wheel cuts off for any length of time the mill job gets cancelled and so I can easily measure the systems success.

Currently on my fifth  year with my test fortress and the only machines to be actual perpetual machines was the one on the wiki and one almost the same but with 2x2 reservoirs.

I noticed that, I just set my broker not to do any jobs and he'll have time to meet with the liaison.

The bigger problem I'm having is liaison's who refuse to leave only to go into a rage weeks later leaving me with a relations hit with the civ due to their co-worker now sleeping at the bottom of my garbage shoot.

Designate [d] then [n] for remove construction. Gets rid of floors, walls, stairs, ramps and anything else your mason can build from the [d|C] menu.

:edited for typos, maybe I should check the wiki I may of made some silly mistakes like this one. Suppose thats what df induced sleep deprivation does to you

I havn't built a waterwheel in the river so I can't be sure but from my underground currents I observed that the wheel won't be active unless the water underneath it is at least 3 and it can't be all 7 otherwise there is no flow.

Currently my wheel runs between one resevoir with all 7's and one with 2's and 1's. My wheel keeps a balance of 4 to 6.

To jeff yes a perpetual motion machine can be constructed and is really quite energy efficient. The wheel I mentioned above pumps water from the low resevoir to the higher one and runs a mill with 60 power to spare.
